Choosing to use the Earth's landforms as your setting's continents is a great idea. I've done something similar in my setting, and it does make things much easier. Because I haven't followed a setting in a long time, I'll be keeping my eye on yours.

Consider me your first fan. I'd really like to know more about the Infernal Wars and the remaining nations.

Actually I think you misunderstood me. When I say all the landforms found on earth, I mean to say that the continent has everything from mountains to deserts, forests to swamps, etc. There is no landform known to man currently that does not exsist in the lands of Karis.

Thanks for the interest though! I'm going to try and remain diligent in transferring the material I do already have onto the forums here and then working from there.

This looks really interesting so far, I like what I'm seeing. Questions: For Xian, what are the dragonkin? Is that anyone with dragon blood? Or is it something more? does Xian have a population of true dragons? In General: How closely is this setting DND? What races are there? How high is the magic? Technology? Etc.

Oh, and I noticed you put an OGL notice in your first post. Just to let you know, if you intend on putting any OGC in your material, which I would support 100%, you need to put this in your sig, so Itâ,¬,,¢s attached to every post. Make sure to change section 15 to reflect the material you actually use and to put your information at the very end of it. :)

Thanks for the info on the OGL thing.

I'm actually working on putting together the more detailed info for Xian right now. It should be posted within a day or so. As of right now everything in the SRD is available in the Shattered Kingdoms (although there will probably be a few tweeks to some things). It's a mid to high magic setting with the standard (for the most part) technology of the DnD world.

And Dragonkin, well as you are familiar with there are dragonbloods (the subtype) true dragons and half-dragons, dragonkin are a little different. They are more or less an alternate to the dragonblood subtype. It's something that will get posted up here when I get around to the Character Creation sections.

Very interesting setting! I will be interested how you handle the dragonkin since dragons play a large role in my own setting. Your city description is very detailed and well thought out. I can't wait to see the rest of the cities and how they will all interact with each other.

Thanks! I've had some of the info put together somewhat already as I'm running my players through this setting pre-abyssal wars. In the end they will be a part of the wars and directly have influence on whether or not some of the cities survive (hence why I don't have all the cities fleshed out yet). So it's mostly just a matter of time for me to get all the details sorted out in my head. What's going to take the longest is probably the PrCs, feats, races and the like.

I was wondering about the Thug class. Have you played this class in a game yet? He looks good, but maybe a little tougher than standard classes. Will the class be usable by the players, or is it an NPC class only?

I agree with the above posts that the setting sounds really good. I'm sort of picturing Dark Sun - separate city states going it alone against the world, only without the all encompassing desert.

Yes the Thug is a PC class and I've done some playtesting with it and everything seems to be balanced. It has also been sitting over on the WoTC boards for some time (where it went through all it's revisions with their help) and this is the final (probably) version.

Very cool ideas. Only things it looks to be missing are main cities for the Elves and Dwarves, and possibly a couple other races. Though I'm not sure what you already have planned for the other six pillar cities.

Thanks. As far as dwarves go their major city was wiped out (Ironridge Keep) and the largest population of dwarves in karis lies in Lea Monde. Elves are covered in one of the other cities  that I haven't had the time to get polished up yet. Hopefully I'll be able to get a good amount of info posted this next week.
