PS
Quotewow. So I didnt understand your argument. Do you hate my idea because it destroys everything elves stand for or do you dislike elves?

"Then shall the last battle be gathered on the fields of Valinor. In that day Tulkas shall strive with Melko, and on his right shall stand Fionwe and on his left Turin Turambar, son of Hurin, Conqueror of Fate; and it shall be the black sword of Turin that deals unto Melko his death and final end; and so shall the Children of Hurin and all men be avenged." - J.R.R. Well, I have some big plans for Alacaron as a setting, and I just love posting my stuff on this website, I get the most feedback. Now, Raeflin, I don't think you're bad, just misguided. My whole goal in this setting is that when you think of one of your DnD sacred cows, you are met with something completely new and strange. I think it creates a NEW experience for old players, who are used to seeing the Tolkien-inspired elf. They see these new elves and go "Whoah, that's different." I don't think I would get the same response with my brand new race The Makamaei, a race of long lived tall and slender humanoids.

I am really inspired by Eberron in a way, Baker takes drow and makes them new and unique, rather then living in the underdark.

I plan on Alacaron being about three major bodies of land. Alacaron is the "new world" freshly discovered, full of untapped potential and new races (yes, original new ones) I really only plan on using my Oriental Orcs and these Jungle Elves here.

Stratton was a continent city but is now overrun with Undead, it would be a good setting for the Undead race I am making.

Then finally, Aldoria, a more normal setting. This is the "Old world" with haughty high elves, greedy dwarves, halflings, humans (The Race of Men), gnomes, etc. While this part of the setting will be closer to what the status quo is, I see it as a way to please those who hate the new take on races and prefer having a "normal" elf. I'm going to start that thread right now actually.

Tangential

Note that Baker calls a significant portion of them umbragen (not drow) precisely to differentiate them.
