Quote from: TybaltThe player races you are allowing is very telling about your campaign setting. With that in mind I am curious about what the demographic for adventurers is supposed to be.

Mind elaborating?

I personally have issue with all the races merely being human variants. Elves are humans with pointed ears, halflings/kender are human kids (complete with childlike mentality in some worlds), dwarves are short and stout humans... etc. I wanted races that were unique. I also wanted races that existed for a reason in this world. Granted I have human variants (mostly to appease some of my players. damn fanatical elf players...) however I want you to walk down a city street (Keystone City, for instance) and be amazed by the myriad of different people and forms that you encounter. Granted certain restrictions are in place for the playable races (ie- humanoid and small or medium)however that ismore for balance and ease of play than anything else.

You're kind of hitting the nail on the head of my question--I wanted to know what the likelihood of encountering adventurers or even just people of all the races you mentioned was. Like for instance in LordVreeg's campaign world it is more about factions and allegiances as I understand it than race, which is very different from my own campaign.

Generally speaking, many of these races do not intermingle. However the major cities of the world are exceptions to this. When travelling the world, often when you are in, say, Gith Territory, you will encounter primarily Gith, with a chance of running into an rather bold group of halflings. On top of this, there are races like the Ishtar and the Ashtar that have not territory. The major cities of the world (Keystone City, Anduin Par, Sigil Genasa, etc.) are going to be melting pots of the races, where all are welcome (although old racist thoughts die hard in many of the citizens). This should hopefully emphasize the differences between village living and city living to the adventurers while illustrating the daily difficulties of the "homeless" races, as it were.
