Superfluous Crow

As we all probably know, there are an abundance of names for mages and their kin. We have sorcerers (and -esses), wizards, arcanists, mages, magus/magi, witches, thaumaturges, theurges, shamans, runesmiths, warlocks, binders, demonologists, etc.
Which name do you prefer/use in your campaigns?
And, just for the heck of it, can you add to this list?

Mancer and Sensitive are my favourite, but I don't use them. I've used, in my time... worldbenders, mindshapers, witches, magi, necromancer (and vivemancer) and sorcerer.

For finite types, like human beings, getting the mind around the concept of infinity is tough going.  Apparently, the same is true for cows.

Stargate525

lesse, I've seen touched, gifted, channelers, leymen, and elementalist in my various games.

Witchdoctor and shaman are two I use for my game.

There's also the specialists:
Necromancer
Diviner, Seer
Evoker
Illusionist
Transmuter
*Enchanter*
Etc.

Ghost

In my homebrew, in addition to the normal terms, 'arcane engineer' (a cross between wizard and eberron-style artificer), 'Sympathists' (interchangably with Necromancers & Beguilers), 'Kuanta Miners' (no equivalent - they manipulate the alternate universes), and 'Voidsoul' (again, no equivalent - their magic focuses on deep space) will be common.

I can't think of any other terms i've seen that haven't been covered, though/
‘Yes, one may live while never leaving their domicile. But then, they aren’t really alive. Exploring, adventuring, becoming a mercenary - whatever one may call it, it is the blood of the world that many are embracing now. Our reach is advanced nearly everyday, and the stars themselves are in our grasp. That is why I, and many others, continue to learn as we do.’

sometimes something as simple as 'magic weilder/user" is good if you have a ladder-based class system, and wizard/sorcerer could be more specialized versions.
My Setting:
Tiabela - Linky!

Stargate525

I forgot one. Arcanist, Diviner, and Invoker
My Setting: Dilandri, The World of Five

QuoteI don't believe in it anyway.
What?
England.
Just a conspiracy of cartographers, then?

Wensleydale

Ooo, I forgot those. Binder, Evoker and Channeler.

Superfluous Crow

Oh yeah, i can see i have missed a good deal. Well, my only excuse is that it was late. Hope that'll do. In my campaign i'm going for thaumaturge because it has a more "scientific" feel, if you ask me (like magic was a scientific discipline, which it is in my campaign in some ways). Keep them coming. I'll try and edit the first post into an updated list, in case anyone needs the inspiration. And Realm Weaver, are your kuanta miners in any way inspired from the possibility mining in "the scar" by China Mieville?

LordVreeg

I have Kabahlist guilds, Theurgist guilds, mentalists, there is Grettle's Thaumaturgist guild in Recum Proper...those come to mind quickly.
