Base Classes:

Lurker
Wetter it's a question of intelligence, shyness, self confidence, or a lack of anything to say, you don't post much. You're content with reading and answering polls anonymously. Other posters aren't usualy aware of you, and occasionally, when you do post, you get overlooked for better posters. No problem. You're not here to be heard.

Abilities: Knowledge, curiosity, anonymousity

Poll Whore
You post 'cause you believe you get some sort of digital benefit, or some sort of virtual high. You start many topics, often in the 'anything goes' section. You rapid click multiple threads into new tabs, and quick reply short little anecdotes, funny phrases, or even a pointless emote. Posters that aren't your friends ignore you, and that's the way you like it. The moderators believe you to be harmless.

Abilities: Flurry-of-posts, curiosity, shallow mind, ultimately-pointless, happy-fun-time.

Cabbage Eater
You came online 'cause the topics the forumns revolve around have unanswered questions that you obsessively need answered. You absolutely need those questions answered. You life can't go on unless you know why Fireball is not a good combat spell, why she dumped her boyfriend, why elves don't sleep, why does a bowl of Choco-Surprise kill the test rats but two bowls keeps them regular, why the Polymorph line of spells are completely ruining your game. WHY, STARS!?!

WHY!?1!?!shift!/?!one!!?

Abilities: curiosity, geekdom, OCT

Thoughts so far?

Some types that, fortunately, don't exist around here: ;)

The Malcontent
You believe firmly in the principle of, "If you don't have something nasty to say, don't say anything." Nothing is ever good enough for you, and if at some point someone actually listens to your complaining and tries to take some of your suggestions seriously, you'll find something wrong with the way they did it. You tend to grind the flow of creativity to a halt anywhere you interject your rather opininated opinion.

Abilities: You know just where to draw the line in criticizing the moderators to keep them from banning you. You're also quite good at making small children cry.

Teh bad spelr
may b u r dum or may b u r lazy but ur typn always is bad, u no but u dun car i mean its just net rite if the othr ppl want it to b lik an english papr then go read a book or sumfn lolz

Abilities: You can type 250 barely readable words per minute. Spammers complain about you.

The 60th Percentile
You're smarter than average. Barely. Unfortunately, being smarter than most of the people you encounter on a daily basis leads to the belief that you're smarter than everyone, anywhere and everywhere. If there's an argument, you're ready to weigh in with your expert opinion. If you don't know anything about the topic, you're soon on Wikipedia, and five minutes later, you ARE an expert.

Abilities: Supreme confidence in the fact that you're right. Regardless of the facts.

Advanced Class: Thread Necromancer
Why you looked is your own damn business, but you did. You went digging in the older, now long dead topics for an answer. Sometimes the answer isn't satisfying, so you animate a horrific night walking copy, or just bump the old one. Most often it shambles a bit, but it's already a decayed husk of leftovers, shortly lurching back into inactivity.
Occasionally, threads you post in simply die for no apparent reason, even the ones you start, snuffed of interest before the topic could be concluded.

Abilities: Thread killer, curiosity, thread animation, revive, create spawn

Advanced Class: Sage
You keep notes, you keep tabs. You know where people have spoken about a topic and where someone can get an answer. You know stuff, and people know you know stuff. People know you for knowing stuff. You knew I was going to say that.

Abilities: Knowledge, quick-links, geekdom, literacy

Advanced Class: Project Leader X
There's been this question that people have been asking lately. The question realty bugs you 'cause it can't be answered in one or two hundred words. Or maybe there's a bunch of related questions that keep popping up that can be answered together. The point is: You have decided to do something about it. You are going to write several huge posts (5k word+) which will answer all the big question.
It's not glamorous, but within a month (or maybe more) several very large posts are going to appear on the forumn and people will praise you for saving an evening of their time trying to come up with a shoddy solution. Or send you hate mail for pointing out all of the problem they're ignoring "Cause that's the way things are supposed to be." Ungrateful shewbies.

Abilities: Knowledge, geekdom, prestige, closure.

Túrin

I see a pattern: all the base classes that actually appear on the CBG site (Lurker, Poll Whore, Cabbage Eater) have curiosity as an ability. Does that mean every CBGian (CBGer? Guildie?) has curiosity as an ability?

Also, only the Sage has literacy? That's gotta hurt on a medium where writing/reading is the primary (read: only) means of communication.

I wonder what Prestige Classes there are...

"Then shall the last battle be gathered on the fields of Valinor. In that day Tulkas shall strive with Melko, and on his right shall stand Fionwe and on his left Turin Turambar, son of Hurin, Conqueror of Fate; and it shall be the black sword of Turin that deals unto Melko his death and final end; and so shall the Children of Hurin and all men be avenged." - J.R.R. Literacy does not mean basic grammatical skills. (That's a hidden character feature you trade in for a feat at first level, BTW. Teh bad spelr is a class that can't take it.) Literacy is feat you can select, but the sage gets it for free in most forumns.

Curiosity is very important. Without curiosity you wouldn't want to learn more. (What's this thread about? Will I find my answer in this topic?)

Prestige Class: Troll
You're an angry poster. No matter what happens you're still angry. Maybe people just don't get it. Maybe you just don't get it. Maybe there's nothing to get. Whatever...
You have a point that you have to get across, and you're willing to insult, debase and humiliate yourself to do it. Also, the more attention you get, the more powerful you become. 'Till you attract the attention of a moderator.

Abilities: Incessant focus, ultimately pointless, bulk up, no cabbages allowed.

Prestige Class: RPG Regular
You are often saunter around the gaming boards. You been there so long, you're renown for making interesting, engaging, life filled characters. This is now probably the only reason you log on. And for the price of one feat, you can run one of these games yourself.

Abilities: Literacy, happy-fun-time, drama!

Prestige Class: The Crazy Foreigner

Requirements: Must be Teh bad spelr or The Malcontent.

You're from a different country than most of the posters-- you might as well be from a different planet. The standard language of the forum is probably English, and you speak English badly, not that you care. You're got more important things to worry about, since the rest of the world is out to get you. Not surprisingly, your political views are off the deep end of the deep end, and you've never met a conspiracy theory you didn't like. Your posts tend to be short and nonsensical, and if someone doesn't understand, it's clearly their fault, not yours.

Abilities: Tenacity in an argument. Ability to confuse everyone who reads your posts.

the_taken

Hey! I'm a crazy foreigner. That class is not a fair approximation! You make me cry...

sparkletwist

Hmm, are you sure? You don't seem to meet the requirements. ;)

How about:
The Technocrat

You talk to people like you talk to machines. If you want to tell a computer something, you tell it in blunt, plain language, and there's no need for tact. People should be the same way. You have no social skills, and you find people who do to just be annoying.

Abilities: You can take it as well as dish it out. You tend to completely obliterate Poll Whores and Crazy Foreigners in arguments.

the_taken

Technically we are all crazy foreigners. I'm not from your area, and I'm crazy. You're not from my area, and you're crazy. We are all crazy foreigners. I like being a crazy foreigner. It's a great social center piece.

"Look! There's Billy, that crazy foreigner!" "Isn't he your brother?" "My crazy, foreign brother!"

---------------------

About the technocrat and 60th percentile, add increasing vocabulary as an ability, and they're gold.
