How should Cebegia handle classes?

Variant classes based upon region of origon. Classes change statistically from place to place, to better fit their role in that environment.
5 (19.2%)
Flavor based division like wild classes (druids, barbarians, scouts, rangers, etc) in the city-states, and civilized classes (fighters, paladins, clerics, rogues, etc) in the empire.

Default iconic roles like the imperial knight paladins (where most will be found), but with exceptions such as lone heroes, or rogue ex-imperials.

Same classes across the board, but with different titles depending upon where they come from. What would be called a barbarian in the empire, might be called a totem warrior in the city-states.

Hey everyone,

It's voting time again. In the Discussion: Classes thread people were starting to take sides and not progressing much anymore, so we need a community mandate to decide which path to pursue. The issue at hand seems to be how (if at all) the classes of Cebegia will be related to the cultural division between Empire and city-states.

I voted same classes across the board, because that's how I like to see it.  I'm going to mention that the "iconic roles" option was a close second and if that option wins, I'll definitely compromise my opinion.

voting iconics, with exceptions understood to exist. I figure it'd give a framework to work with, while still allowing flexibility while writing things up. Second choice goes to 'across the board', so i'm pretty much voting as natural 20, but inversed :)

You know what? I'm going back with the variants because I want to see a thugish barbarian from the empire meet up with a wild huntsmen someday and realize they are the same class. I strongly suggest that if we are going to have a unique setting then we must do something about the classes.

I'm voting Iconics, but I would like to see variants added it. I just don't think they should be manditory, or nessicarily regional. Perhaps there is an Imperial Lawbringer, which would be a variant ranger with a sneak attack for non-lethal damage only, but lacking the rangers wild abilities and divine power, while their could also be a bounty hunter ranger variant, which isn't tied to any region but has some rogueish skills for hunting down humaniods.

As Turin said, it'd be great to have variant classes without a need for them to be regional in flavour. I'm also in favour for that.

This is going to be a big world. Maybe not dimensionally, but idealially because we're going to have a bunch of different input and a mass of ideas to progress our campign. I feel, with variants, we can fill in all the major gaps or expectations that need to be filled.

I voted for: Default iconic roles like the imperial knight paladins (where most will be found), but with exceptions such as lone heroes, or rogue ex-imperials; I think this fits the flavor of the setting as I understand it the best. Most PC classed characters are "heroes" anyway, so you will find them "out of their pond", but they will be more common "in their pond".

The only classes I'm very adamant about are the cleric and th druid. I'm fine with broader applications of rangers and paladins, if their divine connections are lessened, but clerics and druids definately need to be opposed; old religion vs. new, and all that fun stuff.

I am with the others though; if "across the board" wins, I won't cry ...

... much.
