I'm trying to get a handle on the possible trade-motivations and diplomatic situations with areas 2,3,4,5 (as they constitute a group in relation to the Alcan Empirate, a possible 'trading bloc') as well as 7,24,35,21,6, and then areas 35,36,and 39 (as they also are a 'possible trading bloc'
I was hoping for wildy obscure information like area names, and maybe even more.  Maybe I'm crazy...

Region 2 is named Pylorin. The rest you have listed are regions no one has worked on, so they do not have names, history, or trade motivations.

The Empire is being worked on by the group. The surrounding civilizations and regions are being created by individuals (with those individuals working with their neighbors to create relationships between civilizations)

Geez, I know it was a while ago, but I remember that much.

[blockquote=Wensleydale]I agree with the 'bay-within-a-bay', personally - it seems pretty much ideally placed for trading purposes.[/blockquote] OK, I'm with you here, unless anyone disagrees.  I could see it if the new emperor, whom I'll call Teroth due to no one playing on this thread anymore, growing up here in the cove city of Zatandes, the home of the fleet.

[blockquote=Xathan]There's that unregioned little landmass (one of the larger non continental landmasses) up in the NE corner of the map. Being all cold and arctic, and far away from the empire, I had an idea that the Old Empire established a prision colony on that island, much like the British used Australia. The key here, though, is that the mini-continent was used to house magical prisoners. Well, the Old Empire has fallen and the New Empire has either forgotten about or decided to ignore that island, but the descendants of those who were sent there have remembered all too well.[/blockquote]  I like the idea of this being siberia-esque, for politcal, social, and magical misfits...

I need to get back on this thread. Pylorin, land of architectural wonders, is finished. What next, I wonder?

LordVreeg

Wensleydale, how do you want to format the relationship between Pylorin and the burgeoning/seething power of the Empire?  what is your take?

Pylorin is a bit arrogant, really. They don't see the new Empire as anything but a shadow of the old, and consider it a bit futile. They're certainly not going to submit.

LordVreeg

Okay, well, trade routes for the old Empire was on the table.
(The table that was left in the house where no one has gone in for a while)

Wensleydale, I agree that the southern bloc of countried you belong to has to have some reason the new empire has not swallowed them.  Also, as a land of Architectual wonders, Does Pylorin use different builing materials?

and countries 1-5 all have to have some reason that they have not been swallowed, due to their proximity.

Hmm, looking back at it now... my writing style has changed.

Anyway, hah. I would imagine it would... the building style of the Old empire, perhaps.

LordVreeg

Proximity-wise, that would make sense.  In it's history, I think Pylorin might be an old Ally of the First Empire.

It was part of it at one point, and is still in a cultural and semi-linguistic sense. It was probably an ally at times as well.

LordVreeg

so did Pylorin take an exit cue at the end of the first Alcan Empire?  I think allies makes sense, since it is too close to not be either in hot war or allied.  Could we say that Pylorin is protected by the Empire's navey as long as Pylorin allows use of a port?

It's possible. I'm considering rewriting parts of its history anyway, heh. It's essentially like Greece to Rome, although its position now is somewhat confused - even though it thinks the empire is beneath it, it is unlikely to be able to fight them off when it failed so miserably the first time.

LordVreeg

I like your Greece to Rome analogy.  Rome might have conquered Greece, but culturally, Greece conquered Rome.  I would ike to put forth that this has hapened on an architectural level between the Alcan Empire and Pylorin.

Perhaps in Pre-empire times, they were loosely allied...
Can we put an independent city in a mountain pass in-between, a city both fought over but is now considered neutral ground?  I'd like to throw a university there, and independent churches.  A Saint Church, and the local Totemic churches for Pylorin should exist next to each other.

BTW, what are the other territories you border?

I'm not sure what they are, actually. I think a couple of other people claimed them but didn't work on them.

I agree with your ideas! I'll write them in at some point. :)
