Good to hear.  How was The Downey?

Gonna see it today or tomorrow. From what I've heard, people like me think its awesome. I've heard 5 opinions on it:
LA Times movie critic criticized it in every way. After reading it, I wanted to make his life suck.

PC Gamer podcast, Norman Chan and Dan Stapleton said it was awesome, Kristen Salvatore said it was okay.

Seeing it today, after I get my free KFC.

Should those of us who have seen it (or, rather, once we have seen it) use spoilers to talk about our thoughts on it?

No spoiler folks, this is a big one for me.  But I would be surprised if it is the "best to date," since I have few doubts that it can top Batman Begins. ;)

No, there was a very nonmainstream Cap movie back in the late 80's/early 90's.... it was wonderful, and you should definitely check it out.

I'm looking forward to the Avenger movie, but only if they keep the same actors who played in the original films (i.e. Robert Downing Jr. as Ironman, etc.)

I second brainface.

I just saw the movie. I thought it was excellent, probably as good as Spiderman. But it didn't top Batman Begins. If anything will, I expect it to be The Dark Knight.

Well, Batman Begins was really good too, but I think I'm more of a Marvel fan then a DC fan. I will admit that Batman is my favorite DC character, so that earns him some points. But, I did have a single issue with the Batman movie, while I had no issues with Ironman.
If the Microwave Emitter could vaporise the water in the pipes, why didn't it vaporise the water in the people?

Sam Jackson as Nick Fury. 'Nuff said.
As far as generic praise, I like that, even though they didn't explain any of the super science, it was believable. My girlfriend is a former robotics champion and she liked the subtle details on the inner workings of the suit (it had moving parts to simulate muscle, to give him his added strength).

Robert Downey Jr. played an excellent Tony Stark. They avoided making an issue of his alcoholism, but he did have a drink in his hand often, which I found great. There were lots of little nods to the comic (the name of his home computer system for one). While it didn't follow the comic exactly, it was updated and modernized, made sense for today, and remained "true" to the source material.

It felt like Ironman. Robert felt like Tony.

I have no complaints about the movie. I feel so good about it that I don't think I'll argue about it with anyone; if someone doesn't like it, that's fine. I feel the movie speaks for itself.

I don't read comics, so my familiarity with superheroes mostly comes from cartoons as a kid. I knew very little about Ironman. On the whole, I'd say I've liked Marvel more than DC.

Which is one reason I think Batman must have rocked so much--if my less preferred style had such an impact.

I do remember reading the director (or someone) saying they wanted to save alcoholism for the sequel.

You are one sick Overlord, Ishy.  That was an intersting movie version, to say the least.  I liked his shield.

I do have to admit that I enjoyed Batman Begins enough to watch it more than once, including On Demamd.
