[ic=Shaili]Sense... This does not make sense... Trick of my sense... It does not tell me where I am, it is not clear... Please be clear... Where am I?

[ic=Kieru]Curse that wretched buzzard...he knows as well as I do that I cannot see!

Remaining seated, Kieru scoops a handful of the snow beneath his cloak into his thin hand. Slipping his arm outside of his cloak, the nyamm can't help but notice the agitating itching and tingling which rushes down the exposed limb as it is struck by the weak winter sunlight. Leaning forward, he brings his arm beneath the shade of his cloak's cowl, and slips the snow-filled hand inside the wide hood as the prickling sensation diminishes to a slight irritation.

And to think, I am only a few feet from my own kin, and yet they treat me as a they would a kiag.

Slowly eating the frigid snow to quench his thirst, Kieru pauses to breathe deep the fresh air, scented like that from a fresh rainfall, provided by his cloak. The white fur on his exposed arm, sharply contrasting to the black and brown coats of the nyamm around him, is mingled with shades of grey and black from weeks of travel.

I haven't had a decent bath in months...even my wind can't fully conceal my own stench...

Slipping his hand back beneath his cloak, Kieru begins to scrub his body with the fast-melting snow, his thin frame quivering as he surrenders his warmth for hygene.

If Garak saw this, he may kill me...I am already 'weak' in his eyes.

His body now drenched in chilling water and slush, the nyamm pulls his cloak tighter around his shivering frame. His teeth, white through lack of food rather than cleanliness, begin to violently chatter before he locks his jaw in an attempt to mask his discomfort from the ears of any nearby nyamms. Brushing the snow away from the dead grass beneath his cloak, Kieru once again brings a hand to his face, but this time carries with it a handful of dead, yellow grass.

The least they could do is feed me. Then I wouldn't be so 'weak.'

His hand hovers before his face for a few moments until, with a nervous gulp, Kieru stuffs the dead grass into his mouth. Slowly, reluctantly, he chews his excuse for a meal and swallows, fighting the urge to vomit on the spot as the disgusting mulch slides down his throat.

I have to get away from Garak, even if it means finding a new mentor. It's becoming more and more evident that he will kill me as soon as my services are no longer necessary...[/ic]

(Noon)-Zan: "If you insist, peace-walker." Natynas follows the gigantic pacifist back to her tent. Ducking to enter, you find that the tent is only about 4' tall and half of the floorspace is occupied by a high-quality cot. The twimi noble stops outside and says "I'd think you'd prefer the open air..." She leaves her sentence unfinished, suggesting that you should offer your name.

(Noon)-Kieru: "So sad. eating grass?" A high pitched voice from behind startles you. Normally able to hear anyone within ten yards, the speaker must have the stealth of an owl to sneak up on you. The high pitched voice sounds almost like a twimi, but it is much more cheerful and less... substantial, more fleeting. "You might want to try the berries, they taste better." The voice giggles as you feel a stream of blueberries pour into your lap. Certainly not a twimi.

(Unknown)-Shaili: You stop and focus on the scene. A cave. Yes, under the waterfall. Cold. Icicles drip water from the ceiling and a cold wind blows down the dark tunnel. Spiders... even now they wait in their burrows, waiting in the light. Light. A pool of soft, blue light flows from the central point in a large crystal in the ceiling. Around the crystal are small holes, only a few inches wide... burrows. You lean against a large stalagmite and look back the way you came. The soft hide of the deer sits on the edge of the illuminated cave floor, waiting where you dropped it in a panic... waiting like bait. You can hear the waterfall from beyond a hole in the upper cave wall behind the light. Flashing images of you climbing through the hole, wings scraping on the rock, eagerly seeking the light. Perhaps it would be worth it to try and run past the crystal to climb out.. no. The icy water would kill you, you'd need the deerskin and they'd never let that go... greedy, greedy spiders. Safer here in the darkness... down the tunnel of ice...

(Sunset)-Kianak: Oh, how beautiful the northern forests are in the evening. It'll probably get cold soon, might even snow... wait... is that smoke? Yes, smoke, not to far off either. Probably from a camp fire. But friend or foe? Kiag are said to live on this mountain.

[ic=Kieru]Shocked that one would do such an act with no motivation to the likes of him, the nyamm's jaw moves wordlessly before he finally forms words. "Th-thank you...but why give such things to me? Surely you know that I am with the kiag." While taking no action to eat the berries, Kieru does allow one of his hands to slip from his cloak and touch the small fruits. Tilting his head slightly, the nyamm tries to gain a better bearing on this new acquaintance as he listens to its response.[/ic]

"Forgot you were so small..." Zan says quietly, looking in the tent while Natyas was speaking. He turns back to her, "It's Zan, Lady Natyas, and you can call me as such." He turns to look back at the nyamm priest eating grass. Shifting his eyes to the woman he says calmly, "I can't put any trust in the spiritbinder and his party. However, if they want to help, we should let them, but we should always outnumber them," he says with a strange air to his voice. He stops for a moment turning his eyes to the nyamm now rubbbing snow on himself, "for our own saftey of course."
Nodding to the Lady he takes out his clay jug and asks playfully, "So, what did you think I found?" He smiles and starts drinking a steady stream of his wine.

(Noon)-Zan: Sir Zan, I do not think you've found anything of interest yet. I hired you for protection against... otherworldly dangers. If you wish, I can show you the site where we've been having the most difficulty.

(Noon)-Kieru: The voice giggles again with bubbling joy, almost like the tinkling of bells, "I don't see a kiag here! You're funny. Have some berries, I know you're hungry." Ears almost wiggling to pick up a subtle sound, you can't hear anything except the shifting boots and idle mutterings of the prospectors. You can easily pick up one say "Kiag tomin, wanip itchahs. Lorna twan pyin."

(Twilight)-Kianak: Walking up the steep slope, you folow the smoke trail up to a small clearing in the trees. You can hear the soft burble of a mountain stream nearby, posibly the same one you encountered lower down. In the center of the clearing is a large dark shape with one eye low to the ground that burns with an orange light. Smoke trails off of the shape, but you can't make out any more details in the gloom. Something apears inside the eye and calls out in a female voice, low and strong "Welcome Kianak, do not be afraid."

[ooc]They weren't meant to be visible in the first place, no. A cloak and a wide, deep cowl would hide a lot of that from that distance.[/ooc]

[ic=Kieru]"That is true, I am very hungry." Kieru quietly replies. "But the kiag will come back soon, and it is a spiritcrafter. It is not safe to be in my proximity when that happens." Plucking one of the berries from his lap, Kieru carefully sniffs the the fruit. "You never gave me your name...I'm Kieru." he says as, if the fruit smells normal, he hungrily devours the berry and reaches for more.[/ic]

Kieru: The blueberry is delicious, it's sweet and cold, causing your mouth to salivate more. Reaching out with your mind, you can feel a ripple of magical energies. The voice starts out high and gay, but it almost seems to flare to intensity and then burn out and become a weak, empty shell. "What are you doing? No, stop that! Oh no...
I can't stay here now, but you will come to me instead...
A swift wind, like that of your cloak yet somehow different blows past and the sound of wind chimes rings in the distance. Rolling around in your palm, the blueberries still feel as fresh as ever.

The opal skinned Zan looks over at the cowled figure hunching over, not revealing any of his body to the open daylight. "Yes, I think that'll be a great idea," he says to the Lady and motions for her to lead the way.

[ic=Kieru]Kieru's face, a mask of puzzlement and confusion, snaps in the direction of the fleeting wind in time to directly listen to the ringing wind chimes.

A spirit?! What kind of spirit helps a witchdoctor?

Impulsively tilting his head toward the blueberries, the nyamm continues to eat the succulent fruits, slowly savoring their flavor for as long as he can.

It would only be disrespectful to leave the spirit's gift unaccepted...but what did I do to harm it? For that matter, why does it want me so badly? Wouldn't it want to seek out someone more powerful if anyone at all? It just doesn't make sense...[/ic]

Zan: Adjusting her dress, the twimi walks up the mountain to the site. Overhead you can see the kiag fly back to his slave.
The excavation site is a slice of the mountainside that has been cleared of a few trees and leveled off to a section of dry rocky soil. Against the mountain face is a stone wall, that makes the site itself a semi-circle. Various tools, picks and shovels, are lying around in piles, apparently there is no work today. In front of the wall is a large black rock with dark blue metallic veins running through it. Although some of it is exposed, it is clear that the majority of the boulder is encased in the earth.
"Impressive, isn't it? Enough sebayet ore to make a thousand weapons. Pokobru scouts managed to flag the meteor before we found it, but they lack the tools to excavate it, or so they say."
As you approach the glistening boulder, you can feel a pulse of magic. Please make a spiritcraft check.

Kianak: "I know about everything on this mountain, from the stones to the birds. My eyes see all, though not as much as they used to. Come inside, I have a stew cooking."

Kieru: Wing beats signal the approaching presence of Garak. With a blast of wind, you can hear the kiag land with a thump a few yards away. Talking excitedly, Garak seems overjoyed at his excursion "Stand up! I was right, this mountain is a nexus of magical energies. The impact site up the mountain acts like a gateway for the mountain's power. There are some runes I'd like you to see, you can eat lunch on the way up."

[ic=Kianak] It would be nice to be in the warmth, but can I trust this stranger. Kianak thinks for a few moments debating on his course of action. Well, you'll never learn anything unless you take chances. He starts to proceed to the camp. Do you know who stole my possesions and what has happened to them? [/ic]
