Quote from: PhoenixI actually read Atlas Shrugged (on a long overseas trip--I picked it up when I ran out of other books).

It was...torturous.

One entire chapter (about 80 pages) was a speech. I kid you not. The chapter starts with the first open quotation marks, and ends with the only ending quotation marks. And yet he doesn't say anything that wasn't said early in the book (repeatedly).

I work in a used book store in Dolega, Panama (as in the Republic of), and I sell at least 2 copies of that book a month...mostly to wish-they-were-rich gringos (and yes, I'm a gringo), as a side-note 99% are republicans.

Is it sad that, when I read this, my first thought was 'this is horrible.' Not because the book was bad, not because one of my fellow CBGians had suffered, but because there should have been an open-quotation mark at the beginning of each paragraph.

That the same rules designed to reduce the role of the GM and to empower the player also destroyed the autonomy to create a consistent setting. And more importantly, these rules reduce the Roleplaying component of what is supposed to be a \'Fantasy Roleplaying game\' to something else\"-Vreeg

My god, it's as if the heavens themselves created the perfect tool and gave it unto the boorish oafs that comprise the human race.
