Stargate525

Yeah guess what this is.
My setting. Number and religion sorta centric, with a healthy dose of victorian-era exploration vibes (though not so much with the technology).
My Setting: Dilandri, The World of Five

The Saga of the Seven Swords - XXsiriusXX
Genre: Science/High Fantasy
I am still working on good summery.

Cheomesh

Mesopolis
 Genre:  Near Future Adventure

Science has failed us, and now we are slaves to a system.  The great wheel of human existence is ever churning, and has not come to a halt even now.  The government rules above, gangs rule below, and savage beasts rule the outside.  Where do you stand?

Hooper

Valgora

A living setting played by members of O.G.R.E.s across our 8 (and growing!) chapters.  Began as a anti-Meta gaming test and has slowly grown to much more.  "Generic" fantasy feel mostly.

Superfluous Crow

Ouch, some unnoticed posts here! Sorry guys.
Hooper, a more extensive setting intro is needed, as well as a link to your setting preferably :)
That really goes for most of these last entries. Preferably this should be usable by any new people on the site, eh?
If you find one of your settings has become stuck and you decide not to work on it anymore, pleease tell me so I can remove it.

Island City is semi-active.  The main thread is here.    There is a discussion thread here, which started its life as sort of a brainstorm thread to throw out setting ideas and get feedback.  I decided later to try and create a cleaner layout for the setting material and declared the old thread a discussion retroactively.  There is also an ongoing PbP on these very CBG boards, the recruitment thread is here and actual play is here.  Still accepting new players.

One way to describe Island City is:  think Buffy.  Modern world and vampires, werewolves, witches, ghosts, and faeries exist.  The central concept is: the supernaturla is rare and covert and dying except for this one place: Island City.

Now this thread has been resurrected, it might be time for some spring cleaning. So if you deem any of your settings on the list to be dead and given up on, then please notify me.

Age of Fable

Teleleli. Or, The City Never Dies; It Just Smells That Way

A mixture of pun-filled fantasy settings like Discworld or The Order of the Stick, and more serious sword and sorcery, with a particular emphasis on sea-going adventures. It's based on my online game ( http://www.ageoffable.net ).

The setting is centred around Teleleli, a 'loveably evil' fantasy port city along the lines of Ankh-Morpork, Port Blacksand or (probably the mother of them all) Lankhmar; the sort of place where Jack Sparrow would be at home.

It's completely system-neutral, and designed so that either the whole setting can be used, or individual elements. Thus there is relatively little in the way of history, powerful named NPCs, or overarching 'metaplot' - but a lot of creatures, adventure locations, and ideas about the daily lives of adventurers. It's also designed so that most fantasy character types will have a place in the world.

My setting notes, which I update frequently, are here: http://thecbg.org/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?78477

Seraph

Alright, while a bit late, I think I've finally gotten enough updated on this to call it "active."

 Avayevnon
Genre: Steampunk Renaissance Fantasy

The future stands in the balance: Savage and Civilized, The Old Ways and the New Faith, Night and Day, Nature and Artifice.  Avayevnon has seen the horrors of heresy, and the work of demons.  It has seen plagues and pirates and conflagrations that swept half the world away.  But it has also seen hope and miracles.

In Avayevnon, forces battle for ideas.  Religions are in conflict with each other, and religions are in conflict with the changing world around them.  The secrets of the past are being recovered, and with them emerge all manner of new thought and learning.  The world will never be the same.

Now, in cities, factories are being established, ideas are for sale, and honor is at stake.  Old glory is threatened by the fires of industry, and that Olde Tyme Religion is threatened on all sides by the Ancient Pagan, the Subversive Modern, and the Heretic.

Blood of Tyrants

A superhero setting that is currently rather dark in tone due to the conquest of the world by supervillains framed as the creation of an imaginary indy comic book publisher that has been steadily publishing since the Silver Age or early Bronze Age.

The Vast and the Restless

by Malachi Lemont

In the Vast, geography is a wild card in the course of history. The laws of nature are different here than on Earth, such that a mountain may move several miles within a person's lifetime, a lake may appear out of nowhere one day, and a river might never reach the sea. People will spend centuries building a thriving metropolis only to have it torn in two by a opening in the walls of the world. Many people survive the constantly shifting landscape by always staying on the run, forming nomadic communities based around trade and foraging. Others stake out a spot in the turf and hope that the next earthquake will miss their village.

As a campaign builder, I intend for the Vast and Restless setting to be a mix of the practical and the surreal. The surreal side comes from the land itself. The practical side comes from the people who live there. The people are ordinary humans - no elves, dwarves, or whatnot - who live in multiple complex nations constantly involved in political and religious conflicts. Technology follows an earthlike progression through history in the Vast, starting with early agriculture and continuing to an industrial revolution. The present day of the Vast resembles our mid-1800s, with railroads, rifles, empires, and the beginnings of democracy.

Right now this campaign is located on another site, but I hope to continue it on the Campaign Builders' Guild. For more details, follow the link:
