If you answered no here's the other concept. Normal-type pantheon. This will change history a bit but that is not a problem. PC's will be given the OPTION to not follow a deity but to follow and alignment instead.

If this is the case then do you want a new pantheon, completely new or keep the original?

With a conventional pantheon, the history will be altered slightly along with the magic section. The religions section will be greatly expanded and changed accordingly.

There will also be different pantheons for other regions of the World, as they contain different cultures and beliefs.

I'll share a concept I'm working on for my game. In a similar manner to Michael Moorcock's books deities come and go, depending on whether they are believed in or whatever. You might want to include the possibility but not change your world's history.

THat actually sounds like a good idea. People could start believing in them again (for some reason) so they come back. It could happen during the campaign with the PC's involved. Yeah thats cool.

Well an example is this: in my game the deity Gruumsh is fairly weak to start with, mainly worshipped by humanoid tribes. The idea is that it was not always so, and that the goblin creatures once met with humans in obscene rites which raised power. one such priest, swollen with ambition, has joined forces with a war lord in order to regain such power. In exchange for the use of his priests as recruiters of humanoids and spellcasters the warlord will attribute victories to the favour of Gruumsh, and thus gain vast amounts of worshippers for the being, which will ultimately gain the priest unheard of poewr.

So you could for instance make it a major sub plot; the very unusualness of it would be striking.
