In the interest of moving the setting along, both in terms of updates and in terms of reviews, I'm posing a question to you all. I've had ideas stewing away for some time now on a variety of subjects. Since it's the big showcase week, I thought I'd give you all the choice (collectively.) So, tell me what you want to know about, and I'll do my best to accomodate your desires.

Please note that the options below are guidelines. Feel free to vote "Other" and choose something not on the list at all.

A brief explanation:

Yolek-Ja would be the largest of the Free Cities, an aggregate culture. If communities were food, Yolek-Ja would be the gumbo you cleaned out all your leftovers to make-- it's mixed up, spicy, kind of grungy, and of questionable nutritious value.

Formeria and the Empire is the liriss culture, and would deal with that race (and dragons) pretty heavily. Expect noble desert cities, large Imperial land holdings, possibly information on the Scouring, the Doctrine of Affect, and looming war with Ithyria and the Republics.

More information on religion would include further elaboration on the predominant Dwarven Faith, including a more complete list of gods, how the faith is practiced, and its effects on culture and everyday life. We'll also talk more about the boru's revered Cho, the goblin water-religion of Farras, and the heretical Reverent Path, as well as relevant non-religious religions.

More information on magic/science would include some talk about spellcasters in the world, how magic works, how it's perceived, and how it affects culture and day-to-day life. Brief discussion of shaper bloodlines. Also, other sciences and technology, and the general effects of its presence.

Exploration hazards include monsters (no, they aren't all gone!) and their role in the average campaign in this setting. I will also talk about the big environmental frontiers: the Unknown Regions you reach when you sail too far from land, the terrifying and unnatural Wilding Fen in the north of Attu, and the desolate underside of the world. Also, a general survivor's guide to the wilderness, and a probably unavoidable discussion of the Scouring.

Linguistics is a poll choice for language nerds like me. Here, I will talk about languages, naming conventions, and similar topics that most people seem to find rather uninteresting, but a few people find inordinately fascinating. I will probably upload some alphabets or writing sample pictures or something.

More about a culture is pretty self-explanatory. I have already written pretty much about these cultures, but if you want I will tell you even more! Just be sure to tell me which one you're most interested in, if you vote for this option.

Other is a category on the poll because I can't think of everything. There are always issues we haven't talked about yet, and I can always pull things over from the WotC thread and talk about them here. Just be sure to specify what it is you want to know about.

Hopefully, this will help ease some people into the setting, who have been intimidated by it's volume. I'm a nice guy, I swear! I don't bite!

Well, I voted Exploration Hazards, but since the polls are funky, I'll have to wait to actually put it in.

I will second Mez's call for Exploration hazards.

For finite types, like human beings, getting the mind around the concept of infinity is tough going.  Apparently, the same is true for cows.

In memory of Captain Xathan Redclaw, Last of the Fallen. You're memory has not faded, and we miss your presence dearly. Take your time, and come back when you're ready. Please put this in your sig if you respect Xathan's decision, and wait patiently for his triumphant return.

Well, in an effort to be the proverbial fly in the metaphoric ointment I vote for Yolek-Ja on account of my penchant for gumbo.

Because the polling mechanism is borked, I'll just tally things up in the thread. Here's the current standing:

Linguistics: 3 votes
Golem011, Ishmayl, NecromancerElf

Exploration hazards: 2 votes
Mezerous, CYMRO

Yolek-Ja: 1 vote
Wrexham3

Everything else: loserville
Nobody voted for any of this junk

I'll give this poll/thread until the weekend, then start posting things according to the order of popularity.

Whoo! Linguistics, oh yeah, it's your birthday...

Lmns Crn

I know I said I'd wait, but I lied.

People who voted linguistics will be intrigued to know that I'm sketching out writing samples in various languages, so that I can scan and upload them when I get home. These images will accompany an update to the Jade Stage thread that explains several languages in more detail than I'll wager any of you actually care to know. :P

This doesn't mean the poll's over. I'll keep checking back here and responding to things based on you guys' input, so if you haven't voted already, vote on what you want to see after I do linguistics.

Linguistics might carry the popular vote, but Exploration Hazards has the electoral votes.
