This is the discussion thread for CeBeGia: My Way, you can post here.

I'd like to hear your thoughts, so tell me what you think.

I quite like what you've got so far. What prompted you to have your deities be people who had been selected for divinity?

As mentioned, the setting is based heavily on the ideas already established for the community world.  Someone there suggested making the deities of the empire "Saints", divine manifestations of past Imperial rulers.  I just tweaked it a bit.

So, seeing as the CeBeGia seems to be (slowly) getting back underway, do you plan on just starting where we left off (like a fork in the road) and going from there, or are your plans to keep relatively up-to-date with what we're doing with CeBeGia and play off of current themes and ideas?

For finite types, like human beings, getting the mind around the concept of infinity is tough going.  Apparently, the same is true for cows.

I'm thinking I'll borrow whatever I like, as long as nobody has a problem with that.  This setting is for my RL group,a s mentioned, so I'll make changes based solely upon what I like.  It may sound selfish, but as my first time DM'ing, I want everything to be enjoyable.

Perfect reasoning.  and it also helps the whole project to actually be exposed to players.

Yeah! That too!

Added the Kraken, Sylvanus, and the Tarrasque to the totem gods.  Expect more updates today.

EDIT: Changed the fluff and added some on races.  Now there is information for orcs, dwarves, and more!

Well, I might change it eventually, but it was primarily meant to get people's attention.  It also explains the premise of the setting, as I based the foundation of my setting upon many of the ideas generated and used/discarded during the discussion of the community world.

On another note, I have added a section on how I run my games to the Official thread.

Raelifin

Well, I'm not involved with the CeBeGia setting myself, but I always look over Crit's work so now I find myself confused about the political situation. I think a brief rundown on the Empire and the Rebellion and how the other races fit in would be nice.

Numinous

The Empire is an expansionist Aristocracy with grand goals of conquest.  However, it's current problem is that it is outmatched by those surrounding it.

The Elves kick it's ass in the north, they can't invade the unending plains because it's a waste of resources, they gain nothing by it, and the tarrasque usually stops by to wipe out any presence they can establish.

The Resistance is an organisation of humans who live amongst the other races and on the border-lands of the Empire.  Organised into city states, they value their freedom and therefore fight back againstb what they see as unjust oppression.

Cureently, the Halfligns sell their services to anybody, and their base is too far away to be influenced by the conflict.  The Dwarves deal almost exclusively with the halflings, except for those rare few who journey down from their lands as adventurers.  Oh, and the Orcs just like fighting, and so they open up a can of whoop-ass on any invasion force that enters their plains.

Raelifin

Wait? This is an empire we're talking about? Why wouldn't it want to smash the orcs back to where they came and begin farming in the plains? Savannah is excellent for farming certain foods, and I'm sure a power-hungry empire of undefined size would be able to defeat a few barbarians, especially if the terrain was suited for heavy cavalry. Is the Tarrasque truly such a threat that no one is willing to set foot there?

It seems to me that the rebellion would be guerillas or they would live entirely with the elves.

Numinous

Good points...  Looking at my map again, I have decided that the rebellion is a mixture of both guerilla and outright warfare.  The most extreme leaders reside within elen territory, while guerilla tactics are employed by the military arm of the rebellion which operates within enemy territory.  As the Empire is centered around the southern portion of the SW landmass, I say that they have a permanent force established at the choke-point near the main continent, where they are massing forces for an assault on the Unending Plains and the Thinblood tribe.  Unfortunately, the Rebels have proven to be extremely effective in their efforts to disrupt this operation, and the Tarrasque has attacked the encampment at leat once in the last ten years, leading to terrible morale on this front.
