When last we left our heroine, CHASE, the Worldâ,¬,,¢s Fastest Person, she was on the wrong end of the time-displaced META-MANâ,¬,,¢s Nullification Ray-- leaving her stranded on his secret island base!

Although the Nullification Ray has drained Chaseâ,¬,,¢s superhuman speed, her mind is quick as ever. Already, she is plotting her escape and preparing to return Meta-Man to his cell at the Center for Superhuman Detention.

As Meta-Manâ,¬,,¢s futuristic battle drones begin to march into the room, however, Chase realizes her plan might be more difficult to achieve than she had originally believed...

What is Silver City?
Silver City is the eponymous metropolis of a superheroic campaign setting. As the cityâ,¬,,¢s name alludes to, the primary tone and feel of the setting harkens back to the Silver Age of comics, when heroes and villains were more readily definable and realism was secondary to presenting the fantastic. The term â,¬Å"four-colorâ,¬Â, referring to the number of inks used to print the comics of the era but in contemporary usage denoting the era's lighter tone, is applied proudly to this setting.

While the setting is reminiscent of the Silver Age of comics, it is done with an eye for the modern gamer. During the Silver Age, plotlines would sometimes become perhaps too fantastic and unbelievable, and the readerâ,¬,,¢s suspension of disbelief would be dispelled. Silver City hopes to accomplish the general tone of the era without its flawsâ,¬'although it does have a keen sense of humor and irony.

As time goes on, more of Silver City will be exposed, as well as the world around it, with an eye for the heroes, villains, organizations, history, and attitude of the City.

As Chase springs from hiding, she knocks a heavy barrel onto the last drone. Wiping her brow, she grins triumphantly as she begins to contemplate her next move. Even without her powers, Meta-Man would have to do much better than a few drones...
Silver City is located somewhere on the East Coast, the exact location of which is left ambiguous so that it can suit the GM's needs.

Silver City is a large metropolitan center with all the trappings of any other coastal city. It has mass transit systems, art centers, universities, and its own style and flair.

"Time for a Lunar Landing!"

Real Name: Neil Aldrin
Species: Human
Aliases: The Astronaut, Astro-Man
Identity: Public
Base of Operations: Silver City
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 180 lbs
Occupation: Astronaut, mission operator
Affiliation: Freedom Squad, NASA, US Government
Eyes: Silver
Hair: Golden blonde
Status: Unknown
Powers: Flight, gravity control, energy bursts
History: When the first two men set foot upon the moon in 1969, something truly bizarre happened: a ray of sheer cosmic force, launched from a strange disk-shaped artifact on the moon's surface, forth blasted both, fusing their minds, spirits, and bodies into a super-charged form! When he awoke, the being titled itself "Neil Aldin", a combination of his former names. As the Apollo crew returned to Earth in fear, Neil Aldin discovered he could control light energy and gravity, and accidentally launched himself towards Earth!

When Neil Aldin landed in the Atlantic Ocean, he thought he was doomed. Had it not been for the careful observation of a mission control specialist in Houston, he very well may have been; NASA sent a recovery team to the Atlantic and managed to save Neil, his gravity-based power slowly fading as it encased him, protecting his unconcious form.

Under NASA's supervision, Neil was tested extensively, every aspect of his new physiology and superpower under close observation. During one such test, Neil was actually able to escape, causing havoc within the ranks of NASA. On the outside, he escaped to Silver City, then known for its ability to make people seemingly "vanish"-- the mob bosses controlled the city, and the Feds kept out.

When Neil arrived, however, he did not simply fade away as he had hoped. His concious constantly bothered him, knowing that all around him, there were muggings, racketeering, mob violence, and even murders, and that he at least posessed some powers to combat it. When he witnessed a bank robbery at the Silver City National Bank, he donned his silver NASA test suit and jumped into the scene of the crime. He lifted the getaway car with his gravity-based power and smashed it into a wall, stopping the criminals and leaving them for the police.

When the story was released, this "silver stranger" received a wide amount of coverage in the Silver City Herald. There was a variety of speculation on to what exactly had stopped the robber, and Neil knew that in order to end the mob's influence and to protect his identity from NASA scouts, he would need to take on a secret, costumed identity; in effect, he became Silver City's first superhero.

Under the identity of Astro-Man, Neil refined his power of gravity control and began discovering new superhuman abilities. During periods of high lunar activity, most notably at night, he could also create bursts of scorching light, useful in his late-night encounters with various mob bosses.

As other superhumans began to emerge around him, Astro-Man became aware of a secret cabal of villainous superhumans calling themselves the "Slaughter Syndicate". In a pre-emptive move to counter any further alliances, he rallied other heroes under the banner of the "Freedom Squad", and together, the defeated and imprisoned the Syndicate.

Such a public success, however, drew the attention of NASA, and without the mafia around, the Federal government was no longer hindered in operating in Silver City. To their surprise, Astro-Man managed to out-maneuver them as well, getting a special order from the President of the United States to cease all study on superhumans. NASA responded with a lawsuit, stating that Astro-Man's uniform and powers were products of a NASA experiment and were therefore government property; although they could not experiment on him, they suceeded on getting an injunction passed that prohibited him from using his powers of gravity control and energy, the name "Astro-Man", or the NASA suit.

As the Freedom Squad became a permanant fixture within Silver City, Neil decided to go public with his identity and history, shocking the world and gaining instant celebrity. When popular demand rose against the NASA lunar missions and the space program, the injunction was lifted, and Neil was free to operate as a hero once again. Under the new name of "Lunar", he operated for several years with the Freedom Squad before retiring in 1994.

Immediately after the anouncement of his retirement, Neil seemed to vanish entirely. Some speculate that he may have been killed by an old mobster with a grudge, or kidnapped back into the clutches of NASA. Others theorize that he may have be under the thrall of some supervillain, waiting to unleash him upon the unsuspecting public. It's also entirely possible that he simply moved away and changed his name, finding some obscure farm town to blend into.

Whatever the reason is, one of Silver City's finest heroes is gone, and it sorely misses him.
"The Metas? I can't think of a single 'team' more incompetent than them! But somehow, the always avoid the Guardians of Justice... Well, what's that say about the Guardians, eh?"
-Hazard, mercenary-for-hire, after a stint as an operative for the Meta family

For what reason the Dazrol Metari and his family were stranded in the late 20th and early 21st century, no one can say for sure-- and the Metaris themselves certainly aren't saying. What is known is that since their arrival in the last quarter of the 20th century, they have been a constant danger not only to the rest of the world but to themselves.

The Metas, as they've been labeled by the Silver City Herald, have become quite notorious for their haphazard schemes to kidnap leading scientists in the fields of temporal mechanics and quantum physics, as well as stealing cutting-edge technology of all kinds. Their efforts seem concentrated on a return to their original time, although their often overly-complex and needlessly destructive plots often degenerate into a family feud of sorts. Soon, the collateral damage becomes immense, and it takes considerable effort to subdue them.

When one member of the family is defeated, however, the others typically come to their senses; they drop their differences and escape with their incapacitated bretheren in tow. In the rare instances that the entire family is defeated, their sheer power marks the inevitability of a prison escape.

Also: The comic book genre thrives on the wide variety that multiple authors can provide. Many contributers with a single editor overseeing them provide a rich (and sometimes contradictory) environment that is both dynamic and more creative than a single person could achieve.

As such, anyone who wants to write a few entries, create a character or two, or even take a pre-existing concept and develop it further is welcome to do so-- just PM me first!

Concept: The Overseers. A group of superhumans that believe in the balance in good and evil. There main goal is to perserve the balance between the victories  of superheroes and villians. When a villian fails too many times the Overseers step in and try to help them in a goal that will not tip the balance (take over the world)

Hero: The Druid

Several hundred years old, The Druid is, in fact, a mutant. Given the power of minor shape-shifting and rapid growth, The Druid is most recognizable for his ability to transform into any living plant at least as large as an acorn (though he has not tested his maximum-size.) This, combined with the ability to actually grow (not expand) at super speeds lets The Druid transform into all manner of plant forms. His natural form is that of a tall, strong man that closely resembles a king of old, with clothing made from woven ivy.

Powers and Abilities:
The Druid has basic skill with the staff, his preferred weapon.
The Druid can transform any portion of his body into any living plant he wishes, though it is a normal plant of its kind and cannot move or otherwise act. The Druid also has the power to grow at an accelerated rate. This power is often used on shape-shifted portions of his body to regrow limbs or grow roots at super speed to break things apart. Another preferred attack is to swing his fist at an opponent and shape-shift his arm into a thick tree branch. The Druid's powers are  most useful for stealth and protection, as he can turn himself into an oak tree or a pile of moss and become difficult to harm or notice.
The Druid also has semi-immortality by regenerating his body. He is hundreds of years old and thus is very wise.

Past:
The Druid is unaware of how old he actually is, for he was affected with amnesia in the 1700s. Memories from the past often drift up, but nothing substantial. However, judging from his personality, name, accent, knowledge of Gaelic and skill with his power, which he did not forget, he is at least 500 years old and from the general vicinity of Ireland.

Now:
The Druid has a deep connection to nature, and sees Silver City as a great danger to the natural balance of the world. The Druid spends most of his time in the sparse forests near the city, seeking ways to help save the earth from destruction. Though he is a hero for most purposes, his deep protective nature regarding the wilds can turn him into an opponent now and then.

Real Name: Vortigern Arem

Identity: Discarded
Base of Operations: Sparse Forest near Silver City
Height: 5'11'
