There's been some discussion on the Community Campaign Setting thread about setting up a WiKI for that project.  I don't necessarily agree with that idea, but what do you guys think about getting wiki set up for each person's individual campaign setting?  I believe I could set things up so that each member could be his own moderator for a certain part of the wiki, and thus, have freeze power on the wiki (meaning people couldn't change his stuff).  Daggerhart, do you know enough about the e107 plugin to know if this would work?  Otherwise, the CMS that a few guys and I are working on may be a few more weeks in the making.

For finite types, like human beings, getting the mind around the concept of infinity is tough going.  Apparently, the same is true for cows.

Or, we could just set up a mediawiki tha thas nothing to do with e107; it would require members to have 2 separate logins, but the actual mediawiki would be much more preferable to the  plugin, I believe, which seems rather limited from what I can tell (but I could easily be very, very wrong).

If it's easy enough to edit, then i suppose I wouldn't mind.  i'm not too familiar with Wikis, so not quite sure though...

I dunno. I love Wikipedia, mind you, and I'm a Wiki addict. I don't think this is the proper way to go, though, as over-arching Wikis have their own codes of behavior. I'd rather stay as contained as possible.

Just my thoughts.

Ick. As much as I like Wikipedia... I just don't like this idea. It seems too... detached.

ftp access[/i], which we wouldn't necessarily want to set up for 30 users.

that is what you're talking about, right, ish?

You are correct, sir.

Agreed and dittoed.
Free webhosting is easy enough to find and link, why steer people away from these forums?

daggerhart

yeah...   i suppose adding a wiki will just create more mess to learn and navigate.

it seems like a good solution, but obviously not the best (we'd have seperate logins and stuff... ehh)

I don't particularly find wikis to be an elegant solution.  They're great for a certain type of project - multiple people with equal contributional power - but I, at least, run the creation of my setting like a tyrant.  Benevolent tyranny, yes, but my control is absolute.

I mean, I suppose it could be a wiki with only one contributor, but like Cymro said, that's what free webhosting is for.

"Then shall the last battle be gathered on the fields of Valinor. In that day Tulkas shall strive with Melko, and on his right shall stand Fionwe and on his left Turin Turambar, son of Hurin, Conqueror of Fate; and it shall be the black sword of Turin that deals unto Melko his death and final end; and so shall the Children of Hurin and all men be avenged." - J.R.R. I've been looking over the Wiki, and I'd like to suggest a few changes.

Firstly, we need to utilize the Community Portal.  I would suggest moving both the Main Projects list and the Homebrew Campaign Settings list to the Community portal.  It would place everything in a centralized location.  There isn't really a big difference between the two lists, which everything included on both being a Campaign Setting, or close enough in the Arena's case.

Secondly, it looks like Ishy was doing this on other settings, so it might be that he isn't finished yet, but since I'm not sure, all the CeBeGia subpages need to be made to be subpages.  Currently, only the Organizations page is listed as CeBeGia:Organizations.  All the others are listed simply by name (Classes, History, and Pantheon).  If all the other settings are listed that way, we should be consistent.

Third, there are a couple of blank pages that had their contents moved over to subpages.  I would suggest deleting them, if possible.

Finally, I'm sure someone else is already doing this, but I would be willing to "run" the Wiki.
