Preview: My players have gone to the lair of a group of lizard-folk, who are gathering an alliance to fight the Sahuagin who drove them from their home.

The Aspirants

The Sahuagin of the nearest city have chosen a tournament area, requiring a rough journey and then to be tried and tested in a dangerous reason, one where a salt channel meets a river, which is of course poisonous to Sahuagin. By coincidence a great hunter found it, a place where the tidal waters will rush in to fill the chambers of a cave, drawing in many creatures with it. In a chamber 300 x 100 feet the waters descend to depths of up to 200 feet, and there, once the creatures are herded in, the Sahuagin warrior aspirants will fight and hunt and kill, or be killed themselves.

Of course in gaining the place they had to drive some savage semi-land dwelling reptile folk away, but that was a minor inconvenience...

The Lizard Folk had made crude net and lattice frames to block the passages in during high tide, and these are made use of by the Sahuagin to help herd any creatures swept in by the tide. Also to make sure this happens they have some warriors and sharks ready to herd enough in for the New Moon ceremonies when the aspirants will undertake this. At other times it is merelyl training time.

Basically the lair is a great hollowed out area of rock, with a number of side passages and channels leading out from a central pool. In this pool are some dangerous creatures which have avoided the hunt but could prove a menace later on. There is a priestess and her acolytes who are present to perform the ceremonies necessary to conduct the training and acceptance of the aspirants. Around the great pool are a number of ledges and higher chambers, which the Sahuagin at times use for air/land training, and which still contain elements of the Lizard Folks' former dwellings.

Numinous

Cool area, really gets me thinking about all the encounters you could have there, and all the different possible types of terrain present.  So, yeah...  *yoinked*
