Quote from: Gamer PrintshopAlright, I contacted RobA, the co-Admin at the CG (before Nomadic did), and he responded that he'd contact Arcana (Robbie) the true site Admin/owner of the CG. I just got a PM from Robbie, and this was his response...

"Absolutely, lets put them back. I still have the fantaseum web page too. I took the forum and wiki down due to spam, but the domain and basic homepage (with the spring '08 e-zine) is still there."

So it's going be done. That's that.

GP

Awesome, well then as you've gotten ahold of them before me I'm going to nominate you as our official spokesman :P
Here's my thoughts so far:

- Both communities will run a joint contest, one running before the other.
- If we go first we'll have people write about an area (either your choice or we might choose one particular thing to keep things easier) and then they'll make maps by picking an available writeup (if we have more mapmakers than setting builders we'll let them choose the same thing after all settings are chosen).
- Everyone will vote on the best writeup and the best map, winners will get a small prize of some form.

I'd also like to get ahold of Arcana to discuss more things we can do, perhaps you can hook me up with him GP.

Gamer Printshop

PM me or respond here, and I will keep Arcana abridged for your thoughts. (Shouldn't I get a badge or something?) :p

Haha, maybe. What I'd really like to do is talk with him in person since I'm not quite sure where we can go with this, I'd like to get his ideas and feedback. Perhaps you can encourage him to send me a PM on the CG forums (I have an account there).

Magnus Pym

I'd be in. I'd like some concrete info before though.

Mason

I support any cross guild interaction.

Just wanted to say that.

Ninja D!

I also support cross-guild contests as well as internal guild contests. I like ones with big wide-open time limits as I sometimes forget about things for weeks at a time.

Have any decisions been made?

Nomadic

None yet and I haven't really heard back from GP or RobA about it so it's up in the air. I'd still like to do something though.

Gamer Printshop

Its under discussion with the Community Leaders at the CG at the moment - they're busy guys, but its on their plate!

Gamer Printshop

I created a thread in the Challenge Suggestions with a poll for having a cross Guild contest map challenge and in one day's posting there's only positive votes. If anybody here who is also a CG member should vote and post their thoughts and enthusiasm in that thread.

Nomadic, this means you especially. I posted our renewal of the Alliance link to come soon, so it would good of you to corroborate and put in your thoughts.

Already being discussed in the thread, whatever contest you have here at the CBG - setting, regional setting, whatever, once we do the map, we'll be making a free PDF publication of the whole thing with cover art, page layout, all done professionally and we'll see about posting it to RPGNow and Drive-Thru RPG as a free product download.

Thoughts?

For what it's worth, I think that pairing people from other guilds would be a bad idea. If one member of the group were to flake, the other would suffer for it. I don't know how else it could be done really together, though.

Gamer Printshop

I'm thinking the CBG runs their own contest for a setting development idea, then once a winner is chosen here, that entry goes to the CG as a theme to map, then all mappers attempt to meet the challenge for that one setting. I don't think pairing up is even a consideration that the CG would do. Its tough enough to get participants to challenges at all. Some challenges gather more entries than others, often it is just member regulars who participate.

Pairing is definitely not a good idea considering that.

Something like that sounds about the best. The opposite could work, too, having the CBG create the story for a sort of map-of-mystery.

Nomadic

I've heard nothing back from them about it so I'm assuming it's been canceled.
