Memory Fading PbP Chapter One: A Day After Fire

"Feckin' wasting time here, lads.  Nobody lives over dere, so we might as well just check it out ourselves, so we should."[/ic]

Turning to Greybeard. "Captain, is there others to come? Or do us leave now? [/ic]

I believe the previous assessment of 'strength in numbers' should apply here.  I would prefer even more than you six, but quite frankly, I'm not willing to wait any longer.  If the fires last night represent any sort of danger to us, or even if they are the signs of survivors of whatever has happened in this accursed land, we need to find out.  Now, I don't know all of you - he looks pointedly at Dura - but I imagine you all want to find out what's happened here.[/ic]

He pauses for a moment to catch his breath, and looks at Cecil.

I will be supplying you each with the last of our horses, and Cecil will be accompanying you as well.  I am currently awaiting a map, which should be here shortly, so if you have any questions while we wait, now's the time to ask.[/ic]

[ic=Cyyn]"Maybe we should look for some of the survivors and hear their accounts. It could lead to some valuable clues to find out what exactly we need to do. I'll volunteer to lead a group for this purpose if you so choose."[/ic]

[ic=Fizz]"I dunno," Fizz says, seemingly having lost his focus once more,  "I think maybe Captain Greybeard and uh," he gestures at Naoise, "this guy are right.  We should just head out as soon as possible.  If anyone knew anything about the fires, I'm sure they would've said something, right?  I mean, it was pretty obvious, it's not like someone could've missed it." He looks around, hoping someone else is going to agree with him.

"Man, these guys are scary.  They're all so serious."[/ic]

[Numinous]

[ic=Timothy "Gray"] "Indeed.  I have walked through almost the whole town to get here, and all the men I encountered were as baffled by the lights as ourselves.  And if we ain't just a bunch o' yeller'belly scoundrels, I'd think there wouldn't be any debate bout investigatin', and more actual explorin'."  He sighs, and fixes his gaze pointedly on Cyyn.  "So when this map gets hear, I'll be ready to leave, with or without any of you who decide to dilly-dally around here."[/ic]

Guys, I'm sorry if there was any confusion on this, but this game is for the players that signed up to play in this thread.  I added one more who asked, but I can't add any more right now.  I may add more players at a later time, but for now, the players are:

"What was that all about?  I couldn't seem to control the words that flew from my mouth, I think the sooner we leave, the better."[/ic]

Thank you Sorah.  This is what I was waiting for.  I sent Sorah out early this morning to the duke's keep here in town.  Sorah... knows how to get into locked places.  Anyway, he found a local map here, which I will mark with the location of the fires we saw.  The fact of the matter is, we have to figure out what happened out there.  I'm a little spooked about all this nonsense, and I imagine you guys want to know where all our countrymen went as well.  I won't be able to truly reward you men for this, but you will have the gratitude of the people here if you find anything out.  Are you ready to leave?[/ic]

[ic=Fizz] "I am ready to leave," he pulls his cloak back on, securing his lute back into its leather case, ensuring that it is safe, but still easy to retrieve if necessary.  He also checks his rapier, a battered (and even dented in some places on the guard) but reliable weapon.  Its tip is razor-sharp and looks as though it could still skewer a man, despite the poor look of the rest of it.

"I'm not really a map person per se, I prefer to explore the world on my own.  But I trust Captain Greybeard's map, especially since it came from the duke's keep." [/ic]

[ooc]I'd like to apologize in advance for my numerous posts, I have no life and lurking in the CBG is one of the few things that keeps me entertained.  Thus, I will probably post quite a bit (except on most weekends, when I don't have access to a reliable Internet connection).  I've tried to explain it in-game by making my character talkative.[/ooc]
