Numinous

Hello fellow Guild members.  Recently, I've been teaching myself to draw, and I'm still highly interested in improving my literary skills.  So, I've decided to volunteer my skills as an artist of words and pictures to the community.

If you would like me to draw or write something for you, I'll take a stab at it for the sake of practice.  If you give me a high-quality visual description (for drawings) or bite-size ideas and concepts (for writing), I'll give you something in time.  I make no promises in the way of expediency, and I reserve the right to refuse projects due to difficulty, issues with the content, and/or lack of information.

So, if you have an idea you want to see expressed in words or representational art, leave a request in this thread.  Please supply all necessary information, or I will not be able to produce results.

I would love to see some illustrations for my Dilandri setting. Anything of it, really. You could make this a sorta back burner thing, no hurry. The link is in my sig, and you can choose anything in the thread. Just tell me what it is and I'll give you a more detailed description.

Also, I probably need to hone my own writing abilities, so sign me up for some volunteer work.

Ditto for wanting to see Kishar sketches.  There's a lot of stuff in the bestiary I hope is well described.  Maybe some of it would catch your interest.

I'll take a look at the Kishar Bestiary later, as I've browsed it before and seen some interesting stuff.

Stargate, I'll put Dilandri on hold, as you suggested.  If you'd put a detailed description and a specific request here, it would get done faster.  Just a general note for all requests.  Also, I added you to the volunteer writers, just let me know what assignments you want (when we get some more) and I'll edit the post accordingly.

I'll fire off a Pm then. I really want some sketches of the crystals to tell you the truth, so I'll see if I can't describe them better.

Well... I won't have a new scanner for a while, but I can draw some stuff now and scan later. Maybe use a friend's or somesuch.

In the meantime, I can't write for crap. Anything in SFT would be very much appreciated.

What?

Just a conspiracy of cartographers, then?

Túrin

Not sure if this would interest you, but I've been wanting to have a short story written for a character in my running campaign, to explain her villainy behaviour (she's turned partly crazy rather suddenly). I'll gather the details if you're interested.

"Then shall the last battle be gathered on the fields of Valinor. In that day Tulkas shall strive with Melko, and on his right shall stand Fionwe and on his left Turin Turambar, son of Hurin, Conqueror of Fate; and it shall be the black sword of Turin that deals unto Melko his death and final end; and so shall the Children of Hurin and all men be avenged." - J.R.R. @ beejazz: If you post specific requests for a scince Fiction Theater element, I'd be happy to oblige.  But I will point out that general requests are unlikely to garner any response.

@ Túrin: I'd be more than happy to write a vignette, or series about such a character, just send me the details via PM or post here.

I am aware of this. I'd be hard pressed to illustrate without instructions myself. I'd prefer to handle specifics via PM.

So... uh... yeah. This August I'll have access to a scanner. Count me in for drawings, if anyone's willing to wait that long.

Otherwise, anyone interested in taking me up on SFT? I've got one or two story ideas, so I figure it would be best to drum up a conversation by PM first and figure where it's going.

I have, yet I believe that by gathering the talents of specific writers and artist, and setting a higher standard for requests, productivity will be increased.  This way, both creator and the person who needs a piece get what they want.

Raelifin

Hey, I could really use some sketches to break up the huge blocks of text in my thread for Phaedorás.
I don't need anything fancy, really. Just sketches or whatever is easiest.
Since you want me to be specific, I'd appreciate any of these three subjects:
[ic Race: Totwimi]Totwimi Appearance: The totwimi are a small people, usually standing around three and one-half feet in height (females a bit shorter) and weighing around 45 pounds. At first glance one might appear human, but up close their bodies are clearly covered with a very short, but thick, fur ranging from black to tan. Like others of their kind, the totwimi face is almost entirely human in shape, except for their large, leaf-shaped ears and overly-large canine teeth. Despite their fur, totwimi have a full head of hair, identical in color to their fur, which grows rapidly and tends to be straight or wavy. Totwimi do not have especially long facial hair, though the men have much longer sideburns than females. Lastly, totwimi possess thin tails at the base of their spines which help with swimming and balance. Totwimi tails average at about eighteen inches. Remember that totwimi are humanoid, even if they are a bit bestial. No were-rats or whatever.

Clothing, Etc: The totwimi enjoy clothing which is open and reduces heat. Bright colors, especially white, dominate totwimi dress and all clothing is made from woven eku, a cotton-like fabric. Light skirts and draw-string pants with wide legs are common on land, but out at sea the most common form of dress is the saralu, a tight-fitting piece resembling cycling shorts or some forms of bathing suits. The saralu is preferred by both genders for the freedom it gives the legs and the lack of resistance while swimming. Upper body wear usually consists of a yawazu, a large, sleeveless shirt with buttons all the way up that resembles a loose, over-sized vest. Totwimi do not wear shoes as a general rule, though hats, caps and bandannas are very common. Hats often have wide brims and resemble sombreros or tricorn hats and are usually made of straw or woven reeds.

Totwimi typically enjoy wearing their hair in dreadlocks or braids. Rings of precious metal are often woven into the hair as a sign of wealth. Warriors occasionally cut their longhair short, though not as often as in other cultures. Piercings are particularly common on the islands. The totwimi love to flaunt their wealth, so the flashier the better. Both genders of totwimi will collect earrings and nose-rings, though only females get lip-rings.

Specifics: If the above descriptions help inspire you to create a character, do whatever you want. Otherwise, here is a description for a specific totwimi:
Isini, the totwimi weaver-woman stands approximately 3'3" and has a thin, kind face. Her eyes are lightning-blue and always cheerful. 15 years old, for a totwimi she is in the prime of adulthood and is physically fit and energetic. Her auburn hair is tied back in a long braid which reaches her waist and she wears a yellow bandanna on her forehead which goes behind her large, almost elf-like, ears. Her smile is welcoming and her lower lip is fitted with a thin, gold ring in the very center. She wears a beige yawazu which is a bit more form-fitting than most and a light, tan skirt that goes down to her ankles completes her attire. Her feet are bare and worn, with thick, pointed nails on each toe (and finger, for that matter). Isini, should she warrant a background, is doubtlessly in town, walking somewhere.

Notes:If you decide to do an action pose, totwimi spend most of their time on ships and are able to do all sorts of daring acrobatics. Totwimi weapons include slings, clubs, javelins, knives, flails and shortswords. Metalic objects in Phaedorás are usually a copper-red or a dark-blue color, not the standard steel.[/ic][ic Animal: Sikasae]The sikasae (see-ka-say) is a small, 4-legged animal resembling a cross between a bird and a housecat. About 22" from beak to tail, and posessing a wingspan of roughly three feet, the sikasae is covered with dull-brown feathers with crimson tips. The sikasae's features are almost completely avian, though body structure is quadrupedal, it's movements on the ground are slightly feline and it pounces on it's prey much like a cat. The head of the sikasae is like that of a hawk, but possesing two pointed, feathered ears. The sikasae's two mighty wings sprout from the shoulders and continue to the hips. As a rule of thumb, the sikasae looks like a small gryphon which has a hawk's features where it would have a lion's. Sikasae eyes are golden and round, like that of a bird.[/ic][ic Scene: Totwimi Ship]I need a picture of a ship on a calm sea. The ship is large and well-made with triangular-sails. It resembles a caravel or carrack and is roughly half way between in regards to size. There are three sails, all filled with wind. No particular banner or flag flies at the top. The crew of the ship are all totwimi (see above) and thus should be roughly half the size of men. Around the deck of the ship are a ring of wooden spikes, similar to bamboo poles from which cloth may be tied to catch rainwater.[/ic]

Thanks a bunch, I really appreciate it! Ask any questions you need.
