It is 1019SC and Derunas is a prosperous world scattered wuth ruins of anienct civilizations now long gone. There are so-called "Sky Cities", called up from the ground long ago by ancient wizards for the Sky Elves. Massive cities hidden by sand dunes are the homes of the Desert elves. Magic is nearly freely-available in this world, with magic academiesin every major town. The humans ar eon the rise, and the world prospers. However, across the End of the World, a seemingly never-ending mountain range, lurks an evil that the world has never seen. [/spoiler]

Ascendant Elves are the rarest of the elvenkind. They are the descendants of the Ancient Elves, who are not known to exist today. All rulers have some Ascendant Blood in them, as it it is called. Male Ascendant Elves stand about 5'11" tall, and females 2-3 inches shorter, generally. They seem to have an even higher ability than High Elves to learn, and lead exceptionally long lives, even for elves, due to the magic that they are born with.

By "magic being freely available" i mean that magic users are very common, and magic is a part of people's lifestyle. Magic users in my setting will be a little bit different also. I will be using the Haphazzard system we're developing, and magic weilders will have to channel their energy through a device (Usually a staff or a wand). They can attempt to cast spells without that channeling method, but a large penalty is imposed on them. The channeling devices never impose a penalty, no matter how they are made, but the higher quality ones will improve the spellcaster's ability.

By sand elves and sky elves are called "elves" but are not closely related to the star, ascendant, and high elves. Their species split off from the elven ancients long, long ago.

Wurtheansh is basically the continent where all the settlements are. People are beginning to settle other contineents.

Religion

At the beginning, there was Chaos. For endless eons, Chaos existed and there was nothing to fear it, nothing to destroy, nothing to fight. It hungered. From deep within Chaos, it summoned all of the order and law and created a new being called Sheruni. It was meant to oppose Chaos forevermore, to give it something to fight against. Sheruni realized what it was, and that she was alone in facing Chaos, and that it could not be overcome alone. Thus, she manifested from herself the Order. These gods existed with Sheruni to fight Chaos. After endless duels in limbo, the Order with Sheruni found a way to imprison Chaos forever, as they knew the great enemy could not be destroyed. So, they imprisoned him. After the war was over, they rejoiced. But they came to the realization that with only themselves there, it was a lonely place. So, out of limbo they created the Planes, and the Worlds, and then Life to inhabit it and worship them. Sheruni, Bringer of Order, crafted the necessary components for Life to exist. She allowed each of the order to create a race in their own image. It is unknown exactly how many of the Order exist. Drekshun, God of the Elements, crafted the draconic races in his image. Junillesum crafted the ancient fey in his image. Heumiid crafted the dwarves and gnomes and underdwelling races in his image. After many years of peacefull coexistance, Sheruni saw that there was not enough balance of good and evil in the world, for to remain in balance there must be elements of both. So, Sheruni took parts of Chaos and used them to craft many monster to war with the races. The mortals made war for many years, but a side remained victorious: the races. The races drove back the monsters into the distant hills and caves, and began their living again, only this time, there was not absolute peace. Monsters would attack from time to time, but nothing major. Sheruni saw that balance had been nearly acheived. She knew that the monsters could win against the races if they managed to rally together. So, Sheruni crafted the humans in her image and went down to the mortal planes to say to the races that these new ones would aid them in the fight for good. And so her work was done. Sheruni, Bringer of Order, Crafter of Worlds, ascended to the highest plane of existence to rest. The Order continued on the lower planes to aid the races from time to time. However, some of the humans were soon corrupted. One important Evil One grew exponentially powerful, his name was Geruj Delshu. He sought to harness Chaos' power for himself, to forever rule existence. He sealed himself outside of Chaos' cage, and studied the cage for a long time. Eventually, he found a way to open it, using himself as the key to the cage that Sheruni held less power over now that she was resting. Chaos flowed into Geruj, but his body was only so powerful, Chaos could only contain a fraction of himself in it. Geruj, no longer Geruj but now Chaos, came back to the material plane and wreaked havoc. These years were known as The Dark. Finally, the Order came to our rescue and destroyed Geruj's body. Chaos, however escaped and formed his own opposition to the Order. The Legion is responsible for all the evil planted into the world. After this powerful enemy was crafted, the Order went and woke Sheruni. Sheruni banished the Legion to the lowest planes and seeing all the mistakes that she had made in everything, went on a journey to an unknown place.And thus our world was completed by the Order and the Legion, and our true existence came.
