Templates for Design

Ninja D!

I have created two templates that I would like to show here.  These are not game rule templates.  These, actually, could be used by anybody for any game system.  They could even, I suppose, be used for non-gaming world creation.  I will upload them as PDF files since the way I have done them would make it very difficult to post them in the normal way.

The first is a template for detailing races.File: Race Template PDF

The second is a template for detailing religions.File: Religion Template PDF

Now I am looking for feedback on anything that you think may be missing or could be changed to increase usefulness.

Kaptn'Lath

i like them, well rounded and general while still inviting more detail an a WOTC layout, thanks for sharing

\"The first man who, having enclosed a piece of land, thought of saying, This is mine, and found people simple enough to believe him, was the true founder of civil society.\"

Sandbox - No overarching plot, just an overarching environment.

Thanks for your kind words, Lath.  I had basically created this and refined it several times drawing from how I had seen it done in different places.  I though I had including most, if not all, of the most important things.  The religion one I am less sure of, though, as it is newer.

Ninja, you are quickly becoming one of my favorite new CBGers, not to belittle anyone else.

One suggestion on your race template that would be very helpful for my world and might be applicable to other people. In my setting I made a firm distinction between Race and Culture/Ethnicity. You've done a similar separation in your template, but there might be a different way of ordering things. I'm not certain.

I wonder why there is no "personality" entry. Seems important.

Your religion one is also nice and handy. I'll definately be using these, or at least a variation.

I feel that having templates like this makes it easier to ensure that you don't forget anything and have to go back to something you had considered finished again and again.

Doh! What was your last SN? I feel like a dweeb for not knowing.

I believe that my last one was Ninja D!, though I wasn't as active then.  Other SNs I have used (not all here but I'm not sure what I have and haven't done here): Black Jack Davey, Istirith, The Lost One, Davidknght.

Also, I've never been a good member of a community before...but I'm trying now.  Before I was usually still in high school.

Xeviat

Okay, I think I remember you as Black Jack Davey. Well, you're new to me now that you're posting.

If anyone wants these in OpenOffice.Org format, with formatting already made for Headline 01, Headline 02, Sub 01, and Text 01, I have those and could get them to you.

Superfluous Crow

These are really neat. Though I would probably call the more race template more of a cultural template (which I personally think is a good thing). Have you considered putting them up in the wiki? The format might not be all that good, but I've made a stat-block category just for things like this.
Very nice ones, D!.

In the wiki?  Hadn't thought about it.  I've updated these a bit more, too.

Superfluous Crow

This might go under "Practice", but maybe there should be a header to contain church hierarchy, and how a typical temple looks/works in the religion template?
Has anybody made one for countries?
