If at all, what sorts of philosophies most influence your work?

For finite types, like human beings, getting the mind around the concept of infinity is tough going.  Apparently, the same is true for cows.

Well, since my "work" these days is nothing but philosophy, let's say that you mean my campaign work.  There, I think that, if we take a very broad view of what qualifies as a "philosophy" then I can say a few things:

* I do it for me, and not for my players.  If they want to come along for the ride, great.  If not, someone else can GM.  It's the only way to avoid burnout (and it's worked for over fifteen years!)

* 90% of prep work should never be used.  But it should be there just in case.

* Clarity, clarity, clarity.  The quickest way to ruin fun is to have two players and a DM with three different pictures of what something looks like, or what just happened.

My next question:

World of Warcraft: Why, or why not?

Count on me to join in on a question I don't understand. x.

Um............if you hate doing something don't do it.

What is your favorite CBG smiley?

Llum

a simple old :P is good enough for me.

Gray or Grey?

Steerpike

I'm writing a long essay on The Picture of Dorian Gray so I've been using the spelling from the novel (at least in the edition I have) recently.

I think Ishmayl meant more like formal philosophies rather than a "campaign building philosophy"?  If so, I'd have to say Decadence (again the Dorian Gray connection) has been a big influence on the Cadaverous Earth, but also a kind of Rationalism/Objectivism/Empiricism for Skein, Fascism (more political, but still has philosophical elements) for Dolmen and the lilix, Anarchism for Baranauskas.  Hobbes and Rousseau - more the former - have also influenced the setting in places.

Sonic or Mario?

Mario

Yes, I was talking more about "formal" philosophies than "CBPhilosophies."
And now, I definitely want to read a bit about this "Skein" you mention.

Should or should NOT Pluto be a planet?

To be, for as Descartes says "I think; therefore I am."

Starfox or Luke Skywalker?

Acrimone

Gondolin.

Who is your favourite literary villain (of any genre or period)?

UPDATE: Wow.  I got ninja'd by someone who got ninja'd...

Tyler, from Fight Club.

Re: Pluto.  Should not be a planet.  The whole reason it was demoted was because they found other objects larger than Pluto in the Kuiper belt.  It was either loose Pluto or gain eight or nine new planets.

Coke or Pepsi?

XXsiriusXX

Pepsi.

What do you prefer best blondes, brunettes, or red heads?
