With all of the new tags that our dedicated techs have made for these forums, I thought everyone could use a thread where they're all in one place.  So without further adieu, I present to you the various capabilities of the CBG forums!

Stupidity Check: You click the button pertaining to the tag you want to use for information.

To see how I made this post, click the quote button in the upper-right corner.

[spoiler=Spoilers]
Spoiler tags are useful to separate and label information in a thread.
[spoiler=Example]They can also be named, as shown[/spoiler]
The above can be made like this: [spoiler=Example]They can also be named, as shown[/spoiler][/spoiler]

[spoiler=Note]
[note=Example]Text will wrap around a note tag, they can also be named, as shown.[/note]Note tags are great for sidebars, separating information.

The example was made like this: [note=Example]Text will wrap around a Note tag, they can also be named, as shown.[/note][/spoiler]

[spoiler=Code]
To show how a tag works, the code tag temporarily deactivates any code, even itself.

[code]it also turns the text inside blue...[/code][/spoiler]

[spoiler=Image]
The image tag can be used to display an image within a post.

The code looks like this:[img]http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b47/fishking7/dice/d20-icon.gif[/img]

With the end result being something like this: [/spoiler]

These tags are most often used for online games played on these forums.  You can talk In Character, Out Of character, and even roll dice!

[spoiler=In Character (IC)]
[ic=example]you can title these as well, useful for a character's name[/ic]
The above was made like this[ic=example]you can title these as well, useful for a character's name[/ic][/spoiler]

[spoiler=Out of Character (OOC)]
[ooc]useful for communicating on an in-character thread without interefering in the RP[/ooc]
The above was made like this[ooc]useful for communicating on an in-character thread without interefering in the RP[/ooc][/spoiler]

[spoiler=Die Rolling]
You can roll any die you want, multiple dice, and even add modifiers.  Adding and subtracting multiple rolls doesn't work, so just do the math in your head.  Editing your post can cause mishaps or changes, so post again if you need to comment on your rolls.

Rolls are made by putting the die you want to roll in a dice tag, as shown here... [dice]1d20[/dice]

[dice]1d20[/dice] [dice]1d20+6[/dice] [dice]1d17[/dice] [dice]1d365+9 turkeys[/dice]  As you can see, even gibberish doesn't effect the rolls.

EDIT: Apparently you can add things after the die rolls without affecting them, but not before.  Also, the rolls don't show up accurately in "preview post".[/spoiler]

FAQ

This post is reserved for a FAQ.  If and when anybody has any questions, post them ont his thread and I'll answer them to the best of my ability.

Q: How do I link to a specific post in a thread?

A:There is no tag for this function.  Instead you have to hack the url directly, adding #post_(post #)to the link url like this... http://www.thecbg.org/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?5826#post_5828

Q: How do I post pictures?

A: use the image tag from the first post to display images in a post.

Numinous

That's what the first reserve is for Raelifin, PbP tags.

And the second will be a FAQ, if anyone asks any questions.

How do you put pictures in a post?
[spoiler=GitHub]https://github.com/threexc[/spoiler]

Numinous

In order to show pictures, you put the url of the image you want within an img tag.  It should look something like this...[img]http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b47/fishking7/group%20good/party2.jpg[/img]

You can upload an image to the CBG through the upload tab at the top of the page, and then link to them from there as well.  I don't think there is a way to put an image in a post directly from your computer though...

brainface

nat, you can add multiple rolls. you just can't subtract multiple rolls. (and any number of modifiers can be added or subtracted)

[dice]1d6+7-6+1d8+1d7+7-80[/dice] works
[dice]1d6-1d4[/dice] does not. (it's returning 1d6+1d4)
You can append die rolls freely without rerolling stuff, you just can't put them in front of other die.

i.e. a [dice]1d6[/dice] here doesn't reroll the above rolls.

ALSO: dice rolls won't show up in preview anymore. (the results weren't the same as the final rolls, and we had people basing judgement off the errant results. ergo, fixy.)

Túrin

Perhaps you should add how to make them to your second post, critical threat. That is, add something about [ic=?], [ooc] and [dice], otherwise it isn't very useful as a FAQ.

*ponders* Would be a quite original FAQ though: "look, you can do this, and this, and that, and that! But we're not going to tell you how! :P"

*ponders some more* I'm sure there's someone with a sick mind reading this (knowing the people who visit this site) and thinking "hey, that's a good idea Túrin's got there", so I apologize in advance if anyone encounters such a FAQ on a CBG-member's site somewhere in the near future.

This isn't the Dragon's Den, so I'll shut up now.

"Then shall the last battle be gathered on the fields of Valinor. In that day Tulkas shall strive with Melko, and on his right shall stand Fionwe and on his left Turin Turambar, son of Hurin, Conqueror of Fate; and it shall be the black sword of Turin that deals unto Melko his death and final end; and so shall the Children of Hurin and all men be avenged." - J.R.R. Don't forget to fix it like Brainface said.

PbP tags have been explained.  Anybody wanna give a good explanation of the table tags so I can put it up top?
