Quote from: Light DragonThe archItecture section was an interesting read.

How did all these 140 castles fit on the shores? It would seem to be somewhat cramped?

*(mere)

Thanks for catching that spelling mistake Light Dragon.

Actually there are 370ish Castles/Keeps, now this is a massive number, but there's a few thousand kilometers of coastal area. Another thing is that they aren't all in defensible positions, they weren't built for war, but for the aesthetic, to show off. They tended to group together as well, there's a small group of a dozen buildings in the Torslip-Grapequeen style all grouped together.

Now when all this was being done, it was getting pretty ridiculous, most coastal castles had another in sight, and easily within a half-days travel. Since then, a lot of these castles have been ruined or destroyed. Since most weren't defensible, they didn't last too long when a war happened. As well, Magnus the Gray wiped out a good 50 or so castles just a hundred years ago along the Southern coast.

Llum- That's amusing. 370 "sand castles" built without any purpose save the aesthetic. :)
It might be a good idea to append the nice elaboration to the bottom of your original post describing the castles; I believe the elaboration adds a lot.

Quote from: Cataclysmic CrowHow it works, what effects can be produced, what the differences are between using the different senses and how you activate the powers of sight and hearing (art and music?)

How it works is a little different from Arcturian magic. Essentially the stimulation of the sense works as a catalyst for the magic user, allowing them to manipulate the world around them.

The effects that can be produced are the most versatile, nearly anything physical can be done. The laws of the universe can be suspended briefly by the most powerful mages. This is constrained however, first the wizards sense must have be stimulated a great amount. Secondly a lot of experience in manipulating the world is needed as well.

Hearing is activated by any sound, however the sensitiviy of the mage is a factor. Louder sounds help, as does a rhythm. Music is the most common trigger, hand clapping also works. The third apprentice, currently entombed in Seafoam Citadel, was so sensitive the sound of his own heartbeat could act as a catalyst for his spells.

Sight is more commonly linked to colors. Vials of liquid dyes are usually carried and splashed onto a surface. Light is another common catalyst. A specialty tool made for Sight Wizards is a enclosed lanter with a single outlet for the light, different colored glass plates can be rotated to cast different colored light.

I like the magic you've outlined here a great deal, as well.  You sort of touch on it in your last paragraph, but something like a prism would be a good focus for Rigellian magic, no?  Do you have any "evil" Rigellians in mind?  Maybe someone who can only power magic on the screams or begging of tortured creatures?

Hmm,i can imagine a sight wizard working under the cover of darkness, using a bulls eye lantern to focus his magic.

Rigellian Catalysts[/u]

When the appropriate sense of a Rigellian mage is stimulated this sense can act as a catalyst allowing a mage to manipulate the world around them. Each mage has a single sense that can act as a catalyst. Furthermore, some stimulations work better then others for different mages.

A taste sorcerer might have ease in using spicy tastes, while another wizard would find it easier to use sweet tastes. This isn't to say that only sweet tastes would work for the second wizard, it would just need a more extreme taste sensation to fuel the second wizards spells.

Theology and the Oni

Oni are considered to be demons from the underworld. They aren't physical creatures from another dimension like the various creatures from the Plane of Sound or even those from the Dragon Dimension. They cannot manifest a physical body when summoned to this world without being given flesh, alive or dead to craft a body from or inhabit. Due to a Onis nature any body they inhabit will change physically to reflect its new "soul". Horns, long spiky hair and odd skin colors like blue and dark red are the most common changes.

While theologians know that multiple planes exist, and since the discovery of the Oni, that spiritual beings exist they have yet to contact or find anything akin to a "God of Good". No inherently good spirits or creatures have been documented with a proven way to contact them.

Ancient ruins often speak of the gods of the Gog and Magog empires, including several religions with these so called "God of Good", sometimes even with multiple "Gods of Good". Ancient rituals given to contact them have all failed.

However this has not deterred acceptance of various religions that claim a "God of Good", nor has it stifled the search for this God after nearly two millenia of fruitless search by warlocks.

SilvercatMoonpaw

Sense-stim magic?  That's pretty crazy, how'd you come up with it?

If there's no "God of Good" is there a "God of Evil"?  All you said is that Oni come from the underworld, and while I gather they're pretty evil I'm not yet clear if there's an objective Evil force.
I'm a muck-levelist, I like to see things from the bottom.

Half Dragons

Half Dragons are perhaps the most fearsome creatures to enter the world from the Dragon Dimension. They have both the blood of Lizardmen and the infamous Dragon Gods that are said to roam the alternate dimension. Physically imposing they are always the leaders of Lizardmen and Naga, who will do anything for them. Treated as living scions of their gods in Lizardmen culture and as the Sons of the Great Sea in Naga culture their birth is marked as a momentous event.

Physically Half Dragons range fromt eight to twelve feet tall in height. They are stockier then all Lizardmen and most Naga bloodlines. Other then the constant size their physical appearance varies a great deal. The brothers Grimm are both covered in azure scales and have small horns. Some of the other Half Dragons to visit from the Dragon Dimension have been orange, yellow, black, violet, red and bronze. Half Dragons from Naga stock keep their parents long serpentine lower-bodies inplace of legs, and most of them have wings as well.

Every Half Dragon has show a natural inclination towards Arcturian Magic, some however have also show Rigellian magical ability. Something seemingly impossible, since no one has ever possessed the ability to perform more then one type of magic.

Current Half Dragons in the world
-The brothers Grimm (Lizardmen)
-Nophius (Naga)
-Xoriliel Seashell(Naga)
-Suffrus Amberblast(Lizardman)
-Vex Cloudskin (Lizardmen)

That is good, I've kind of left it ambiguous if there's a "God of Evil" responsible for the Oni.

Skylords

The Skylords are one of the original schools of magic, they are Arcturian magus' of air. However they differ from most in practise, admittance is hereditary and Arcturian magic seems to breed true. As Arcturian dynasties go, the Skylords are the oldest and one of the most powerful. Even counting all the varied magical and political dynasties the Skylords always rank as one of the most powerful families.

The Skylords have three main powerbases scattered across the land, functionining as schools and fortified keeps. The Skylords were the first to befriend the Wyverns from the Dragon Dimension and the sentient flyers can often be found living in close proximity to Skylord enclaves.

Wyvern Riders were some of the most fearsom combat magi to ever take up arms against Magnus the Gray. They played a major role in the battle for Kristings Crater but it cost them dearly, Ammoloch the Great Wyvern was slain by the third apprentice.

Grand Order of Paladin

The most powerful knighthood in the world, the Grand Order of Paladins has a very humble beginning. Founded several hundred years after the discovery of Deucalic magic by one Roland Paladin. Originally known simply as the Order of Paladin a company of a handful of knights and a dozen squires the Order prospered over the next seventy years gaining influence as they won battles and aided small towns. In their seventy-seventh year of existence the Order of Paladin merged with several other small knighthoods to form the Grand Order of Paladin.

Over the following centuries the Grand Order would continue to steadily increase in size and influence. Some of the more notable are when aided to put down the Sabbac Uprising in the south, their role in the Coarseman and Kavendish wars the Hope's Light Crusade, their opposition to the Order of the Rainbow World Serpent and their role in the resolution of the Kristing Affair.

The most trying time in the Grand Orders history was less then a century ago. During the battle of Kristings Crater the Order served as the primary foot soldiers and cavalry aside from the forces provided by the Lizardmen. The main force creatures from the Plane of Sound engaged the Orders troops, and the results were horrendous. Six in seven knights and nine in ten infantry were slain while holding their line, and that was all that was accomplished. The creatures eventually retreated and most escaped after the third apprentice was captured.

Plane of Sound

The Plane of Sound is a desolate place, a seemingly endless expanse of white sand under a moon lit sky. The creatures who live there are strange compared to the natives of Corcadia, or even those of the Dragon Dimension.

The main inhabitant of the plane are simply known as creatures from the Plane of Sound, they haven't been known to speak to anyone but Magnus the Gray, who disappeared nearly a hundred years ago.

Standing as tall as an elf the creatures have white skin the color of the white sand that covers their home. They are hairless, have sharp pointed ears similar to those of elves. They have no noses, their eyes are very large, almost twice the size of an elfs and have large lipless mouthes. Their maws are filled with hundreds of thin sharp teeth like needles.

The creatures are extremely thing and look emaciated for their size being mostly skin and bone. This is deceiving because they are at least equal in strength, speed and stamina to an adult elf.

Most if not all of these creatures have been shown to be Rigellian sound sorcerers.

Ghostman

Why is it called the Plane of Sound? Is it simply because those creatures are sound sorcerers?

It looks like you spelled 'thin' as 'thing' BTW.
