OK, after 160 sessions,
SIG is going on Hiatus.  Limetom and I spoke about this last Thurday night.  After years of sessions, and 5 trips back and forth into the Ruins of Vexchian, I am putting this one to bed for a while.

It is kind of interesting, because I have done so much in the development of the Venolvian Culture and the current situation on the Steel Isle, especially with the Death Cult and the Trine Vexchian and Trine Guldana, and especially the detail put into Steel Isle Town itself, that I am now more than ready to use this as a primary adventure area for some live group, or another online group.  It was also interesting that even though I tried to make it a real dungeon crawl, or a 'trip from a non-descript base out through the wilderness to the adventure' in the OSR mold, the in-town sections provided some fo the best moments and events, such as the sessions in the Iambic Treblehorn, or with the headless body chasing the group, or the Fire at the Red Priest Inn, my old adage that I prefer games where the adventuring stuff is better when it is done for reasons based in town started to show through.

But I am freeing up this timeslot, since there is another Project, the Collegium Arcana Game, that Limetom and a few of my other players are interested in pursuing.  It is much more based in character development and roleplay, with less of a traditional adventuring focus.

Well, I have been starting to realize that the time we have been playing SIG just isn't going to work for me.  Being at work all day, and then coming home and going straight into my Cad Goleor game is hard enough on the girlfriend.  When that's done starting another game isn't really an option for me, even when I don't have rehearsal or some evening commitment (which is fairly common).

Well, I'm certainly not laying this on any other heads.  I'm sure I will go back to it eventually.

But right now, I have in mind a very different game, maybe with a little bit of a twisted, macabre feel, but very much doing the growth and schooling of teens in the ancient and giant halls of the original chapter house of the collegium arcana in ancient Stenron.

I think me and Vreeg had both been contemplating it for a while. I was heistant because we were getting other people for a while, and while I realize that people have other commitments--and I'm certainly not blaming anyone in particular, as you all have been great, it was getting to the point where it was only me and Vreeg, and that wasn't really fun for this style of game anymore.

I'd definitely like to get back to Moss and Steel Isle town at some point, but a change in scenery might be nice too. I really enjoyed the several years (oh jeez, it's been years!) that we all have had, and I sincerely mean it.

Even if a certain PC got us all gassed by a dragon along the way. :)

Limetom, when this does come back, as I am sure it will after the Funnel and after the Collegium Arcana game, we'll bring it back as a pro-social/political game with adventuring angles, as opposed to the opposite.  That is what it really became, anyways.

There was the feeling that in the last few trips into the ruins, the group was doing it to fulfill their bargain with Chorbit, but that there were so many loose ends in town ....

And yes, we played this for years.

I'd be interested to know more about the Collegium Arcana game you mentioned.  I am a little disappointed we never got to introduce my Kankenbite, so I am interested if perhaps a different context might work.

after 120 sessions, this was a lot of fun.
Here is the log for the last sessions, 116-120.

i miss it often.
Right now I am running a politics-heavy, no combat, setting heavy mystery game.  SIG was doing  pure Guildschool delve, with one major 'dungeon' site, going back and forth I think 6 times (with one abort...hello Green Dragon), the exact opposite.
And with 120 sessions, I shan't complain...but I do get the itch, regularly, to return to Steel Isle and to have the PCs try to find the Minatour King of Trine Vexchian, to discover the Venolvian's lost Artifice, and to find the Pearl of Water...
