Quote from: Ninja D!I will need to pick some of those up when we go back to town. I didn't actually read through all the healing spells when I made my character and I don't think I looked at initiative at all.

See the new ones...
Healing essence and same with altar.

Roll Call!!!
Session 86 tonight for the Steel ISle Group!
Group has laid low the three gnolls in the 5' corridor in the tunnels under Vexchian.

Toden was able to cajole Max and Moss to add some notes onto the map.

Astell is interesting and growing on me.
He's been around a while; and as such he was one of the older characters done with the real base starting exp.  So he's had to earn his way.
He's a knight of the order of the Bone; as well neophyte priest.  So he's got some spirituality.  He's proved to be a savage and inspired front rank fighter.  I love the smack talk you guys go through when you get into combat (and I miss Mighty Max' smack talk.  That was often epic).
But the bits about his family and the old evil spirit is plain inspired.

Explorers could not find the secret panel described in their map.
(Roleplay was inspired..."Must be around here somewhere..."  "Maybe they got it wrong on the map.."), so the group galumphed bravely down the stairs.
yes, down.
Now, if anyone has doen their research in OSR dungeon design, down = tougher, in general.  At least to some degree.  No GM worth his salt will really look at the levels of encounters or calculate much, but in general, that's how OSR dungeon design works.
(Don't trust me?
ilike this description of how it works.

So anyway, the group went down the very long, steep, dark stairway, where a few flickers of light shone below.   At the bottom, Smiggle gor brave and went ahead into the large cavernous area.  The notes on the map tell the group that the last time they were down here, they were attacked off to the east of the cavern, near an ancient wide stairway, and left after taking casualties.  There was some light guttering to the far east, and also flickering out of a corridor to the south.
Smiggle fell for a false stair at the bottom (this is an ancient venolvian trap, added after the contrsuction, that the beastmen have reset. The spikes faced downward and ripped up his ankle.  Astell tore out the old spikes to release him, after he screamed bloody murder.
A few quick heals (Toden and Victor both can heal, as can AStell to a lesser degree...kind of nice)
Smiggle determinedly west south to the other edge of the cavern, to a smoothed, plastered 5' corridor going south out of the large cavern.  He could see it opened up 15' south, and he called the rest of his crew over.  They peered that way, and found an ancient chamber, well carved and sqaure, with white plastered walls, and a gnoll guard by a set of double doors to the east, waking himself up....

Ninja D!

I was really tired last night. I think I may have missed some tgings but I can't say for sure. More than that, I got the impression that a couple of my messages didn't send again. Our Mibbit interface isn't terrible or anything but it might be time for me to upgrade. Is mIRC still the best way to go on a PC?

best is something I cannot comment on.  I don;t have the perspective. But I can say I use Mirc and have never had a real issue with it.

Yeah, maybe there is a better way of saying it. It seems that most people try mIRC first and never bother to use anything else because it works so well.

This may be a nice primer to have.

This is a lot more than an average learned person would know, let alone a more common person.  But it is useful info and is good background without getting too crazy specific.

If you're on Windows, there's nothing better than mIRC. There's a few options that are equal, but you're not really going to find better.

If you're on Linux, there's plenty of options that are at least as food as mIRC is on Windows. Your distro probably came with an IRC client, but unless you're a Linux rookie, you probably knew that already.

I can't speak for OSX, but I believe that comes with a client, as well.

Everyone has Smiggle being a pyro and hating dogs for your characters still being alive. I'm also down to only one healing spell that I can use on Astell.
