Old, evil, twisted, damaged, and afflicted.  Orbis non sufficit.Thread Murderer Extraordinaire, and supposedly pragmatic...\"That is my interpretation. That the same rules designed to reduce the role of the GM and to empower the player also destroyed the autonomy to create a consistent setting. And more importantly, these rules reduce the Roleplaying component of what is supposed to be a \'Fantasy Roleplaying game\' to something else\"-Vreeg

...and yet we haven't lost anyone, have we? I really botched the support this time around, too. I was even absent a session. I'll try to be more on my game next time around and even properly direct my little sort-of-apprentice.

So the combat still didn't end after I left this week?

No.
And ther are reasons, system and fluff,  that explain why.  But it is still the longest combat I've dealt with since I had 40+ tribals attack the Miston group 5 years ago.  This is 9 Zombies, and two other undead.

Now, part of the issue is that the explorers have been slightly shorthanded.  I have a buttload of followers who are supposed to be directed.  But having the casters working under players vs as NPCs is a big issue.

Maybe we put a sign out somewhere else.  I think most CBG folks think that this thread is only for and about the current game updates, etc.

A thread like that brought me in.

Now, tune in Monday as Ninja D! opens, and likely drinks the whole of, a bottle of wine.

I'm thinking a bottle of wine, SIG, and then the entire Back to the Future trilogy on Bluray. All while hopefully not making too big a fool of myself while retaining my cell phone.

LordVreeg

Sounds good.
My God, we are playing tomorrow night!!!!!  8:45 eastern.

As always, there are a few pregen characters who can be played by drop in players ( a certain bard and a one armed bugbear priest are just aching to be played).
The explorers are actually in the middle of a titanic battle, but it is coming to an end.

Moss has survived:

  • Several trips to the ruins.
  • An ornery, chlorinious dragon.
  • A tavern burning to the ground with him in it.
  • Being shanghaied by the Coom Isle Thieves Guild.
  • Being run through on the sword of an undead.
  • Being immolated by said undead, which turned out to be a kamikaze-type deal.

"Moss the Mighty"? Moss the Almost-Killable...

Llum

Just be careful, Hamish thought the same thing. He survived a lot of things too, then dragons!

limetom

I will remind you, that dragon was the one Moss didn't die from.  :P

Also, when has Moss ever not been careful?

Ninja D!

That fight is over. My follower can't heal Moss for 8 days and even the spells that Victor would be able to cast on Moss won't have the SP to power them for about a day now. I'm all in favor of hiding for a while or even making a quick trip back. If not all the way to Steel Isle Town, at least to some inn or SOMETHING outside of town. If we were to push forward now, we may not survive all the way to the ruins.

LordVreeg

Yeah.
That turned out to be both a fight and a half, as well as an expose on how many times Moss can be almost wiped out then come back.
On the other side, Billow White's confidence took a shot since all his life, he's been a warrior type, and he did nothing but miss and fumble and take damage.

Toden also wants to hole up.  "Once we get over this First Bridge," where this combat took place, "it only gets more wild."
Toden looks down at the burnt Moss, sitting on the ground being healed, with Jon and Billow sitting cross legged and exhausted next to him.  Nearby is the burnt corpse of the Fiery Crypt Captain, along with the stench-undead and their zombic warriors.
"I'd normally say we hold the bridge...but we always end up fighting here.  Maybe we move back and find a defensible spot in these moors that is not the sole bottleneck for travel?"
