Quote from: IshmaylWe've got so many qualified people here who seem to be able to throw out content at a whim, but no one was able to get a few good articles to Eldo over the course of a month?  I guess we can just hold off a bit on the next issue...
You need to have that whim... It's not something you can do on command. (Not that I'm one of those people who can throw out content on a whim.)

I heavily encourage people who have time to create something, though. If we can keep this publication regular, we might be able to keep the attention of ENworld and others (see Ishy's Tavern post a couple of days ago).

"Then shall the last battle be gathered on the fields of Valinor. In that day Tulkas shall strive with Melko, and on his right shall stand Fionwe and on his left Turin Turambar, son of Hurin, Conqueror of Fate; and it shall be the black sword of Turin that deals unto Melko his death and final end; and so shall the Children of Hurin and all men be avenged." - J.R.R. Tolkien, The Shaping of Middle-Earth

Seriously. Don't let your interest die down people! We're making a monthy magazine and you're all being published! Let's keep the Guide going strong for another few months at least.

Note to members of the CBG!

As assistant editor, I have seen the articles contributed, and I am grateful for every one.  However, they are still rather few in number, and so I request that if you can contribute anything to this issue, that you start writing.

As this month's theme is "The Gods, their Homes, and their Servants.", I really would appreciate some articles on the Homes and servats of the gods in particular.  However, anything you write that is applicable to gaming or world-building will be considered.  Just send it to ElDo, and I'll get it by default.

Remember folks, the CBGuide is only what you make it.
Previously: Natural 20, Critical Threat, Rose of Montague
- Currently working on: The Smoking Hills - A bottom-up, seat-of-my-pants, fairy tale adventure!

Well, since my weekend starts as soon as the West Virginia game is over tomorrow, I have something that I can put a little polish on.
It's ungodly, though... :D  :-p

Maybe we could make the CBGuide bi-monthly with specials for holidays, or something, instead of having to worry about more material and another new topic every month.

Ishmayl-Retired

That's along the lines of what we've discussed, WitchHunt.

For finite types, like human beings, getting the mind around the concept of infinity is tough going.  Apparently, the same is true for cows.

If you have to "worry" about the topic, or theme, then is it not best done away with?

Consistency in timetable, or at least consistent updates, would be helpful to this project.
As would courtesy replies letting submitters know their material had been received.

Any word about the third issue?  How about a syllable?

As I've said, things were a bit hectic in November, although I assure everyone that I have received your material and the staff has reviewed it for content and clarity. I apologize that we haven't gotten around to acknowledging all of the submissions on a personal level, that was something that fell through the cracks.

Fair answers, though how do you know all the submissions you received are all the ones sent? :detect:

Easy. Unless people can't read a screen that says an e-mail has bounced back, they should be fairly confident that it reached my inbox. And every Guide article that reached my inbox has been looked over.

I can attest to the fact that both Yahoo and Gmail are inconsistent with such warnings, sometimes the time delay on the bounceback is days if conditions are correct.
Just a point to consider, that even if every member submitted an article, the time it takes to reply is nothing compared to the goodwill engendered by such an acknowledgement.  And it shows a certain level of je ne sais quoi that trancends professionalism.

Fair points. I'll keep that in mind for future submissions to the Guide-- Unfortunately, when I receive multiple submissions in the same day, it becomes a little daunting to try and match e-mails with PM confirmation. For 100% confirmation, I recommend that submitters send an accompanying PM (which I will make every effort, especially in the future, to respond to).

Fabulous idea.
