It's Monday now? Wasn't it previously Tuesday?
I move quick: I'm gonna try my trick one last time--
you know it's possible to vaguely define my outline
when dust move in the sunshine

your memory is correct.
Tuesday was becoming problematic.

I might actually be able to jump in, then. What kind of characters are doing SI right now?

love and love to have you.

what kind of characters?  Well, first off, I think the group has finally broken through a bit on the power level thing.  For a long time, the group had 1-2 people in the 14-15k range, but rarely broke that..now the group has 3 PCs there and growing past it.

Very grizzled.
"
Synopsis:
The Steel Isle explorers are currently on their fifth trip from Steel Isle Town to the Ruins of Vexchian.  Originally hired and still supported by Trader Secundus Chorbit of the Sceding Tree, the explorers have realized vast wealth and have found dramatic historical artifacts.  The trip to the ruins is dangerous in and of itself, some 5-6 days or more.

It has been nearly two goesi of this (the group started on Tokush 1), and many allies and many enemies have been made.  It has been no simple explorations, as the Cult of the Dark Way was found to be actively fighting an ancient humanoid brotherhood in the ruins.  And though the membership has changed and reformed, the exploration continues.  It needs be said that this group of explorers is no pretty crew, scars, injuries, grim armor and weapons, as well as real nasty streak permeates the assembly."

The group is more combat centric, and needs a little more PC magic use.

I was thinking about trying a magic user. At any rate, definitely thinking about going in a more... dungeon-crawly competency direction than Gordin ever was.

It would be almost unusual to try to create a magic-user in the way that they were originally envisioned, a jack of all trades for exploration.

OFF SUBJECT slightly

jOMALLEY's 1/2 ograk knight uses a shield with mid-weight armor and puts a lot of exp into the shield use skill
his AV and PR numbers?
SOmething like -3 and 75.  How's that for a spread?
This sort of describes the importance and actual primacy of shields in most armored situations.  A lot of games use them to increase armor a bit, 5-15%, whereas a shield's interposing in a real combat situation is much, much more effective.

BTW, I am planning on being online tomorrow night for SIG...but I will be coming off anesthesia, since I am having a few procedures Monday afternoon.  Not thrilled, since I am in general very, very healthy, but the doctors want to take a look at parts of my insides, damn them all.

It was a good game  last night, though Victor was missed.  Sneakiness, archeology, interrogation, skullduggery...

Session 119 involved the explorers going to the west side of the old Venolvian road through the moors, since the Cult of the Dark one clearly had decided to hold the road itself with their new tower and palisade on the only rise on the road in a hester in either direction. It was about 2nd hour after noon, and the group had a hobyt cultist prisoner in tow.   So the explorers spied a small pile of stone and brush about a bankar to the west and south, the only real feature in the moors on that side.  The group could also see some grey clouds building over the large hills far to the west.

The explorers started towards it, marching from hillock to hillock and avoiding the wettest places of this red and green moor. The prisoner is bound and puts up little fuss with the grim and dangerous looking explorers leading him away.  The group gets to the hillock by mid second hour, and get behind some bushes.
Of course, there was the sound of terrifying huge wings in the air, that set the group splashing and dashing through the wettest moors to the hillock...and the site of a Wyvern with a rider landing in the Cultists' encampment...

There, Moss, Toden and Plaes (the grimmest of the group, and the leaders) questioned the hobyt while Burnous Gar and Bryx found some old columns and a set of stairs.  Toden was also pleased that Bryx seemed to be more 'in tune with the Godstraat' then others in the group.

The interrogation was not very professional, but the scarred, hooded, and dangerous air of the group scared the hobyt into telling what little he knew, which was still useful in learning a few names and confirming the wyvern rider and that the cultists were indeed fortifying, mainly in the area between the two bridges.

Once finished, Plaes dispatched the hobyt quickly with his trident through the hobyt's throat, and they used the dirt from the uncovered ancient pool to bury the body.  Not quite casual brutality.  Toden was disgusted by the cultist's 'perverted' philospophy.
Then the explorers moved over to a slighly larger hillock they saw part way between themselves and the eastern foothills of the Ensight hills.  They started splashing their way through the moors, as tribin dipped low and Red Gerin's light became the main illumination.  Then Moss spotted the ruins of an old road, a bit sunken, but much drier.  The group followed it along, ruined and tragic as the sun sank, seeing foundations and such all knocked over all about.  Then, as Tribin sank and the sky turned all scarlet with Red Gerin peeking over the water behind them, they reached the hillock.

I am still fascinated by LCs idea of building an old school Mage, based on the ideas of adventuring utility.
lC, did you mean even with the weaknesses, like no armor?   I was looking at the AD&D spell list recently with this in mind.   I mean, casting one spell a day could be ignored....

Or if you are thinking as more of the psychological template primarily....

Sorry, guys. My advisor leaves for Japan tomorrow and won't be back until August. I wanted to talk with him about some stuff related to the research over the summer. Luckily for y'all, I'll be here all summer without interruption.

Really no stress.
The session was a nice, moody one...complete with Plaes instant-deathing a small clan of gnolls.  Or, that's sort of how it felt.  More on the recap later.
