Holiday 2017 Game - Gauging Interest

Hello everyone,

I haven't been around much or GM'd in a while, but I was thinking of maybe running a one-shot campaign on the 29th and 30th of December during the day and evenings. This would be a game set in Haveneast and likely using a heavily-houseruled E10 Pathfinder ruleset.

Is anyone around during that time who might be interested? I'm looking for 3-4 players.

Availability Doodle

The only timeslot where everyone lines up thus far is from 3-7PM (eastern) on the 29th, so we'll go with that. We'll go from there and see if there's any other opportunity.

Holiday schedules can be a little bit tricky but this is something I'd like to get in on if I am able.

What sort of characters were you thinking? Since it's a one-shot (or two-shot?) it seems like we could go a little crazier than we might otherwise, which is always fun.

I am thinking a group of somewhat seasoned characters (so probably around 3rd-level) who have spent some time working together (no first-time meetings would certainly speed up the progression of the game). Either a knightly order or some other form of guild with a need to be in northwestern Kangdemar (a colder region than GIlbany; think a combination of Alaska's coastal temperature rainforests and its colder inland taiga/mountainous regions like around Denali) in the winter, during a series of skirmishes with hostile tribes. They might be Gilbanian observers or mercenaries in some capacity, but it's more likely that they are of less distant origin (this can be decided upon once we have a crew). I don't anticipate any particular theme in the kinds of enemies or challenges that the group might face, except that it's unlikely to involve any large dungeons.

I'm interested, but unsure if I can make it if the game ends up too late in the night or early in the morning this side of the pond.

I'm down. I've got to go back to school in January, but I think december will work fine. Just give me the Time zone difference.

I'm running in the Eastern time zone. Ideally, I would like to run the game in 2-3 sessions each day with hour-long breaks in between, but this of course depends upon everyone's availability. I will put up an open doodle and everyone can list times that they could make it. Does anyone have an issue with the format, i.e. would dedicating two days to a game (minus breaks, sleep, etc of course) work?

EDIT: Doodle is linked in the first post.

Doodle is up. It's a little unwieldly (1-hour intervals over each day), but if I can get everyone to state which hours they can make I can get an idea for how many sessions I can run and when.

I accidentally submitted for only one day, but the same hours should work out just fine. However, random interruptions may still apply.

Also do you care if I read up on Haveneast, or do you want us to go in blind?

You can start reading the thread that's up, but I'll be posting a new thread today or sometime this weekend that has more region-specific details and more info relevant to characters.

Added my times. I may be able to push a bit longer on either session depending on how well caffeinated I am at the time. :P

Do you mean for different groups, or is this going to be some crazy marathon game?

I'm just trying to figure out what I'm getting myself into.

I guess I should clarify that - I was thinking more of a marathon, so that we can fit in more content in the days I have.

So from what I see, there isn't a lot of overlap between interested parties to run a very significant game. To be fair, that is my fault for not giving more notice and trying to schedule a game during a busy season. I am still down to DM something those days, but I will understand if people want to bail and use that time for something else.

What are everyone's stances?

I'd be just fine with couple of shorter sessions.
