i am still trying to mess around with my style (or styles) and i really like the OLD natural looking map styles. I did a "painterly" version of my map but it didnt turn out quiet right. There is no way i would want to print out my map as it is, the canvas style is perfect for print and looks. Good Job EE and Nomadic and i cant wait to see more great maps in this thread.

Here's a map concept I had... I'm still refining it but tell me what you think!

Stargate525

I like those a lot. The only thing I would suggest is to make the main devices on the flags more unobstructed.
My Setting: Dilandri, The World of Five

Ninja D!

I like them along with the others.  Like a political map.  If those are to be your main / only map, I do not like.

Working on a new style of hand-drawn/digital maps with parchment background. This is my September Challenge map for cartographers guild...

Below is a link to the full scale map (26" x 26" 100 ppi, JPG, 1.4 MB) - the text blocks are too small to read on the thumbnail, posted here.

I've come to realize that I lack the attention span to create entire worlds. I do however have creative spurts that have to be fully realized in as short as time as possible. As an example, I've created bonus material for this month's mapping challenge at Cartographers' Guild. A 3 page Gazeteer of the Region of the Archean Trade League, and a 1 page "Gazette" as a hand-out to players, should someone decide to integrate this into their existing game.

I'm best at creating regions, histories, politics in an environ involving a map.

Here's a map from my newest long term setting, codenamed Å edý. Essentially its a bare bones, gritty Dark Ages world. Each Kingdom is represented by their "King's  Crest" which changes as time and dynasties pass. This map is supposed to be the "best map ever produced" in the the world but is still full of inaccuracies. Though I have not yet indicated as such, the map is oriented with East at the top, not north; east is where the sun rises and is thus seen as more important than magnetic north (which in and of itself is an unknown concept). The largest landmass is codenamed Å edý, while the lower landmass - Modrý - and the upper one - ÄŒerný.

Here's a small version of the map:

 Here's the biger version:

Like I said, not a lot of detail yet but I hope to have some basic info both on the map and on the site by weeks end!

Ishmayl-Retired

GP, I love the style of maps in your pdf.  Is that part of your particular setting, or part of the CWBP?

For finite types, like human beings, getting the mind around the concept of infinity is tough going.  Apparently, the same is true for cows.

Ishmayl, it is neither, rather its the region chosen for this month's mapping challenge ar CG, not the CWBP or my own. Though I am developing more on the region with the bonus content that I am creating. I've created my version of the challenge map, along with a Gazeteer, a Gazette and am currently working on a D&D 3.5 adventure module based there - with a 3 page PDF teaser in my challenge thread at CG.

Basically and conceived and developed in 12 days, still working on it. I'll post the completed adventure in its own post here, when I'm complete.

Glad you like my style!

Here's the map to a new Sci-Fi setting - Eldersa Saga - I've been toying with for a while. I found some time the past few days to draw up a concept map of what I believe the local group of star systems would look like. I've never done a Sci-Fi map before and I have to say its A LOT more difficult than fantasy, or rather the nature of the beast is just very different. I think the map came out good for what its trying to convey, now the hard part begins in drawing star system maps (ugh).

Ok, i got a new version of my world map of the Discworld of Tu'lorain up on Photobucket. I would suggest you download the picture (right click, save file as...) and you can Zoom in on it to hell and back. You need to in order to read the lables. Photobucket did some weird stuff to them... but they are still very readable blown up.

Ok i am not impressed with that Photobucket did to my pictures you cant see anything. So with a little help from Redrobes at the CartoGuild i have my original 17mb file hosted up at filefactory.com. Here is the link, unfortunently you have put a little 4 digit code in (bot detection) and download it, you can't view it in your browser.
