For finite types, like human beings, getting the mind around the concept of infinity is tough going.  Apparently, the same is true for cows.

Elemental_Elf

Blastbeats because they're cooler :)

Doritos or Fritos?

Nomadic

Doritos... especially cool ranch.

Shotguns or Rifles?

Elemental_Elf

Shotguns because shooting people isn't nearly as fun as blowing them away! :)

What does 'Lawful/Right' mean to you?

Nomadic

Lawful for me implies an obedience to an overall concept, often with the benefit of the group as a whole as the focus (instead of focusing on self benefit). Right on the other hand depends on the situation. It is a much more flexible term.

How do you, personally, define good and evil?

Elemental_Elf

Good is about self sacrifice and love for your fellow sentients. Evil is the opposite - selfishness and hate.

How do you define Law & Chaos?

Quote from: NomadicHow do you, personally, define good and evil?

I want to answer this one as well.  I take a pretty deontological view on good/evil, morality, and ethics.

"Good" is acting according to the duty to better yourself and those around you (in that order).  It as acting as though you and individuals are an ends unto themselves, and not merely a means to an end.  The two most important principles of a "good" person are Freedom and Duty.  These people will break, and have broken, laws that they either see as unjust, or when a greater duty is in jeopardy. These people act on the absolute form of moral autonomy.

"Evil" is acting according to the premises that all individuals are means to an end, and they have no moral autonomy.  Moral Enslavement and Moral Tyranny are the two main "principles" of evil individuals.  These are the truest of villains, those who will subvert others to the "Dark Side," and those who have no intentions of gaining "power" from their evil actions, but rather gain some sort of satisfaction in "seeing the world burn."

In fictional terms, two individuals who epitomize those moral compass points are Batman and the Joker.  Specifically, the Chris Nolan version of both.  I know it's pretty cliché to use those in discussions nowadays, but I do think the new Batman follows a very deontological course of actions.  He acts according to the duty that he knows to be right, even if it goes against the norms and laws of the civilization he hopes to protect.  For that matter, the current James Bond is a decent representation of that as well.

In more realistic terms, I have a tough time figuring out if anyone epitomizes those points.  Your Gandhi and Jesus type characters, in a philosophical sense (leaving religion out of it) could certainly be up there in the "Good," but evil becomes harder, because most of the people we consider to be evil in our world today are in it for power.  I think (I don't claim absolute knowledge on this statement) that people like Hussein, Hitler, Nero, etc, were all in it for the power at one point or another, and all or most their "evil" actions stemmed from that.  I do have some suspicions of people who may fall in the "pure evil" category, and those people are alive and kicking today, but I'm not going to name them here because I don't want this to turn into a political discussion.

Quote from: Order.

Law/Order is what happens when a recognizable pattern or association comes out of actions or events.

Chaos is what happens when patterns are broken down to their smallest integer, or when one allows "nature" to "take its course."

I celebrate Christmas, the commercial version (not the religious one). I enjoy buying things just as much as I enjoy receiving things. In the end, I support the economy and get free stuff, what's cooler than that?

Why did you create your favorite campaign setting?

Steerpike

I felt that having joined the site (which was originally to heap pathetic fanboy worship on Panglossia), I should probably post some kind of campaign setting.  So I sat down and rattled off that first Twilight Cities post, culling mostly from earlier settings and stories I'd written... thus the Cadaverous Earth was born.

You have to cast the Greek Pantheon with modern celebrities.  Who do you cast for Zeus, Hera, Hades, Ares, Artemis, Apollo, Dionysus, and Athena (I've had way to much fun with this one with roommates and my girlfriend)?

Nomadic

Zeus - John Cleese
Hera - Terry Gilliam
Hades - Terry Gilliam
Ares - Eric Idle
Artemis - John Cleese
Apollo - Micheal Palin
Dionysus - Micheal Palin
Athena - Terry Jones

What is your favorite monty python sketch?

Is anybody else here on library thing?
By the way, I'm khyron1144 there too.
What's a Minmei and what are its ballistic capabilities?

According to the Unitarian Jihad I'm Brother Nail Gun of Quiet Reflection

My campaign is Terra
Please post in the discussion thread.

Elemental_Elf

No but I will be shortly! :)  ... Screen name: Elemental_Elf

Which is cooler - Dragon or Dungeon and why?

khyron1144

The magazines or simply the iconic elements that the world's number one selling RPG is named for?
If it's the magazines, Dragon without a doubt.  My collection of Dragonoutweighs my collection of Dungeon ten to one.  Spells, classes, races, magic items, and monsters are much more useful to me than adventures.

Who would win in a fight Curious George or The Cat in the Hat?

Elemental_Elf

The Cat in the Hat is a pedophile, so he would obviously win by satisfying Curious George's curiosity

Pepsi with Lime or Coke with Lemon?

Nomadic

Pepsi with Lime of course. Pepsi is far better than coke... and lime is obviously the superior fruit (see: limetom).

Access to possibly overpowered items and abilities for the chance to be awesome or Access to standard and sometimes sub par equivalents in order to prove your own awesomeness?
