Oh yes, Nas.  How could I forget Nas (slaps self).

I'm not much of a rap man, but Illmatic is a masterwork.

Stargate525

Classical, Jazz, R&B, Swing, Showtunes, and old time rock n' roll are my thing.

Course, I do enjoy the occasional square dance and hoedown music. That one from BTTF3 rocks.

Techno, Pop, I'll do modern stuff too. Basically the only thing I can't stand is slow country and R.A.P.CRAP

oh, and I play a bari sax, if anyone wants to hear me just ask.

First cd I ever got: "... And Justice for All" by Metallica, which got followed by buying all of their cds, hehe. Heavy Metal (Metallica, AC/DC, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, that sort of thing) was what I listened to the most through the younger years of my life up to the time when I was 17 when I hit a Power Metal phase (a lot of Rhapsody), on to celtic metal and things like Cradle of Filth (But I always went back to Metallica every now and then)

I was 16 turning 17 during my first year of University, and slowly my taste changed due to my friends. I started listening to a lot of Zeppelin, Floyd and Deep Purple, to name a few. I also started listening to Hendrix, Santana (Eventually went to a concert, YAY), Joe Satriani and Steve Vai. Oh, and we can't forget that crazy bastard Jethro Tull...

Last year I listened to a lot of Indie... Flaming Lips, Snow Patrol, Death Cab for a Cutie, Interpol, Athlete... (Plus the likes of Coldplay and Keane). And while I still consider it to be good music... I guess it sort of bores me.

My father is a big jazz man and ever since I can remember I've been listening to jazz kinda at the side (Like, not my main thing) until maybe 6 months ago to the point where I've changed to it full-time. I've always appreciated good melodies and musicians who own (liek teh pwnage kinda own) their instruments. They just blow me away and well, it's the only thing I'll listen to nowadays. The kind of jazz I listen to is mostly Smooth Jazz... but not the boring and unimaginative Kenny G kinda Smooth Jazz. Just to name a couple: Pat Metheny, Spyrogyra and Jean-Luc Ponty.

Oh and btw, any attempts to argue over how a band fits a certain genre or not (In my posts anyways) will be quickly dispatched with a Phantasmal Killer spell.

Here in England, 'pissed' is becoming americanized. It's used for either meaning these days.

Nurrr... not when I use it, nor basically everyone I know. Pissed = drunk. That is all. You must add a whole other word for it to mean angry. You MUST! Gods shave the Queen et cetera.
all hail the reapers of hope

Sarandosil

Cappercaillie
VNV nation
Jethro Tull
Sisters of Mercy

That's about most of it. I'm horrendously picky with music.

Numinous

The Killers
Something Corporate
The Postal Service
The Eels

I like upbeat music.  If it has a high tempo I'll enjoy it.  Slow stuff bores me.

I love Billy Joel, Queen, and Enya.  My Chemical Romance is one of my favorites, I enjoy a bit of Muse, the Postal Service, Sublime, Sum 41, and things like that.  I recently discovered the small time Irish rock band, Needfire.  Flogging Molly never really took me, but Needfire does what I want.

Otherwise, I'm a violinist.  I love a strong, hard, and catching violin piece.  "If you wanna play in Texas, you gotta have a fiddle in the band."  (And yes, I live in Texas.)

For finite types, like human beings, getting the mind around the concept of infinity is tough going.  Apparently, the same is true for cows.
