Let it be known that you don't have to play every week. So far things are taking on a very loose come/leave as you please feel.

LordVreeg

First Online session will be tonight at 9 eastern, though it will be mainly an acclimation session.  I plan the first real romp next Wednesday.

Old, evil, twisted, damaged, and afflicted.  Orbis non sufficit.Thread Murderer Extraordinaire, and supposedly pragmatic...\"That is my interpretation. That the same rules designed to reduce the role of the GM and to empower the player also destroyed the autonomy to create a consistent setting. Doesn't look like I'll be able to make it home in time, I'm afraid.

Join when you can, stress is not an ingredient to these sessions.  Thanks for the warning.

IC? As in mIRC? I don't have it on my new laptop if that is what you meant.

The openning montage is in the large and richly appointed offices of the Gnome/Red Hobyt Chorbit, Trader Secundus of the ScedingTree of Steel Isle.  He's imposing, despite his size, and has done well for himself here, though the Sabre at his side does not look out of place.  He's got salt and pepper hair, with the pepper still getting the better of the battle.

Golden sunlight pieces the high windows, belying the frost bearing sea winds of early Tokush.  The assmbled explorers can't help but note the way precious metals all over the office catch the warm sunbeams.  The ceiling lamp, an electrum and silver loop is covered with fanifule winged insects perfectly placed in a braid.  In the far right corner of the room, a full set of burnished scalemail chased with silver sits, with a wing motive on the shoulders and a mandibular faceplate.  Ancient Venolvian work, to be sure, and worth a seargant's months wages at the least.  And more items of this genre litter the tall office.

"It's not that it's especially dangerous, my friends" he goes on.  "it's more that we haven't found tell of a really new site in quite some time."

He looks down at the ancient, ruined scroll on the massive Ironwood desk behind him.  It looks like the morning sunlight will set it aflame, or that a breeze would blow the parchemnt's disparate parts into oblivion.  There must be some serious magics holding it together.

"However, I am not saying that is especially safe, as it is to the south of the city."  He sighs and picks up some notes on newer paper, "We can't be totally sure where this 'Vexchian' is...That's what the author calls it in the old notes we found, 'Vexchian"...but he does mentions some cliffs around it, and a stream, and a large forest spreading north from it."

He picks up a another square piece of thick paper.

"Our maps may not be perfect, but we do know there are cliffs in the souther Cheriot, in a very wet area, where the swamps and the forest intermingle."  He looks up at the explorers.  His eyes are somewhat clouded, but with what, none can say.

The room is quiet, waiting for him to continue. Finally, he puts the map back down.

"Of course, with the Scalik tribes down there, it probably won't be totally unopposed", he says referencing the Lizardman groups that infest the swamps.  "Which is why we have an armed group going to find it."  He picked up the map again.  "Also, the last major venolvian find did include the correspondiong ravenous undead Venolvian spirits."

Chorbit stands in profile, one hand on his hip.  "I'm sure I don't have to tell you that even on a normal exploratory trek, we never know when we're going to run smack into an old Venolvian boneyard.  The Steel isle was one of their central posessions."  A brief smile crosses his face.  " In other words, with as many old graves in as small an island as this one, be ready for undead"

An update, of sorts.

Obviously, I've been putting some enegy and time into this.  I think I share this with a number of others here, in that when I do find a new outlet, I find some major energy for it.  PLus, I love making full adventures, and on top of that, I have been doing this so long there is kind of a template in my head that needs to be fulfilled.

Llum has been a huge help, in that he is also making up a few extra characters for drop-ins and those who want to dip their toes in.  Literally.  In my live games, it was almost a running gag that if anyone stopped in and ran an NPC for a session, I had another person on the list for when a game spot openned up.  So what I am going to do is set a deadline for new character creation, and fill the open spots with the extra characters.  During a session, drop ins can claim them and sue them for the session.  If they want to create their own, they can create their own character to fill in holes the next time the group heads back to Steel Isle Town...which should be pretty regularly.  [note=Llum] Llum seems to have that type od personality that he can't help seeing how everything works.  He's noted stuff my 20 year players have not. [/note]So this should allow for some flexiblity with people wanted toplay sometimes or not.  I'm normally ultra sticky about continuity and such, but I am not going to be with this online session.

I'm not sure where I am going to post the spare characters, though all characters wil have to be posted somewhere, in case I have to 'bot-play them. But I will keep posting stuff on this thread as to progress.

On the down side, I need to go to Denver this Wednesday coming up.  One of the problems with having a busy Trend Advisor as the GM is I have to leave suddenly.  Midweeks are normally my lightest travel periods, but money is money, gang.  So I'm probably going to place the deadline for character creation to 8/9, and the fist official session on 8/12.  Work happens.

LLum the mad character Builder will be posting the 'open/pick up' characters over the next few days, at least the basics of them.  He's used the mutability and flexibility to make sure that the talent pool covers most of the areas of an exploration group.
With lots of healing.
And these will be open characters,so first come, first serve, though I may give people who run an open character one week first dibs torun that on again first.
